don't really know if this was worth posting, but i though why the hell not. through the direct link it says out of stock for delivery and collect at store but i just picked up one of these from my local pc world (Boston) for £95.97 and there was one left on display from what i could see. doubt it will be that widely available but i thought i would give people the heads up.

The HP Media Vault mv2010 expandable home network storage holds 300GB of memory. It can be used to send data to many TVs and PCs around the house.

Expandable Home Network Storage
1.2TB Expandable Network Storage
300GB Internal Hard Drive
Available Expansion Bay
HP Media Vault Software

yup as said in the post, these will only be in store if you can find them
#4
whats wrong with just buying a hard drive? or am i missing something?

Shame this isn’t more widely available as it’s fully featured and gets a good review at Cnet.
#6
what do u do with these things?

If you can get hold of one of a media vault at that price you've got a bargain - I paid £120 several months ago and I thought that was good. These are far more than just an external hard disk - think of them as more like an automatic NAS backup. Full details at http://www.k0lee.com/hpmediavault/

A very good price for the device but major drawback is 1.2TB limit, even when USB port is used for expansion. Reviews are very favourable, AFAIR. It is superceded now by MediaSmart EX470/475.

For those who is asking "what it is?" - read the review:

Usual story from the assclowns at PC World

SORRY
http://www.pcworld.co.uk/store_doc/images/spacer.gifDue to high demand the following item(s) are currently unavailable.http://www.pcworld.co.uk/store_doc/images/spacer.gifHP Media Vault mv2010 EXPANDABLE HOME NETWORK STORAGE

You connect this into your network at home and it acts like a central storage for all your movies, music, files etc. Worthless unless you have a wired 100meg+ network, not too hot over wireless due to all the other garbage windows network traffic.

Im not sure 1.2 TB is such a drawback.

Thats a heck of a lot of storage for home use, and tbh, it would cost you that to buy a mobo capable of holding that kind of storage. At least you can back up to it and disconnect, saves losing the data.

It depends on your requirements obviously. I've got 2.5TB now (poor Slug!) and thinking of expanding it. Not to mention backup issue too...

They had these in stock in Swansea Enterprise Zone late this afternoon. I saw one anyway sitting on the tables that they’d set up for sale goods.
