HP MINI 110 DUAL CORE 320GB 10.1" NETBOOK (REFURB) £168.98 ARGOS EBAY

Aliwoo18Aliwoo18

I thought I'd share this as it's pretty competitive for a branded dual-core Windows 7 netbook, it comes with 12 months warranty so being a refurb isn't too much of an issue as far as I'm concerned. I believe you can upgrade this to 2gb ram too for very little money. Specification as follows:

CPU and Memory:
Intel Atom N2600.
Processor speed 1.6GHz.
1GB DDR3 RAM.
320GB SATA hard drive.

Display features:
10.1in display.
Resolution 1024 x 600 pixels.

Graphics:
Shared graphics.
Intel GMA 3150 graphics card.
Graphics card memory 218MB.

Interfaces and connectivity:
3 USB ports.
B/g/n wireless/WiFi enabled.

Multi-media features:
0.3MP built-in webcam.

Operating system and software:
Microsoft Windows 7 Starter.

General features:
Up to 10 hours battery life.
Size H3.26, W26.8, D19.1cm.
Weight 1.38kg.

netbooks are a waste of money.

better buy Nexus 7 or save more on a proper laptop, even refurb.

Ok, I'll bite, why exactly? A deal for a branded, guaranteed laptop for under £200 might be useful to add too.

These things are great if you have little space in your house, but still need a keyboard and a proper OS. I still use the old MSI Wind, and it is happily running Win8, Office 2013 beta, all my downloads, and manages all my media (mainly photos and music, though). I have added a second screen, which helps loads. It does lag on occasions, but it is the original Atom chip, after all. And four years old.

I would expect this to do most of what people want, in a tiny box. Good price.

because they're not good for anything. even simple browsing the web is awkward with that weak overheating cpu, graphics and lame resolution. scrolling to the side ftw.

10 hour (so about 7 in the real world?) battery life and capable of running MS Office. Surely it's ideal for a student who wants to do some actual work rather than play games or surf the web?

I use a 13" laptop but it's a bit chunky for my daughter to cart about so thought this would be ideal (the 15.6" laptops suggested above are far too big to cart about and have half the battery life of this).

Its the perfect size for portability. I find anything more than 11" screen clumsy to travel with. The resolution is rubbish, though, which is why I pair it with a full-size monitor when using it at home.

Well I don't have any trouble with mine (HP N570 based), and I do also have a laptop to compare it to - if I want power, large screen, low battery life and less portability I use the laptop, if I want portability and more basic (but still adequate) functionality, plus about 6-8 hours battery life, I use the netbook (and if I want to play games I'd use a desktop or console). By the way, the screen might be smaller but it doesn't reduce the font size, you just have to scroll around the screen more, so I don't think it will make you blind (although, depending on your taste, the web content you look at and activities associated with it might). :p

I will add though, I do agree that those two laptop deals you linked to looked like great value!

and yet you recommended a nexus??? i aint saying this netbook is any good but at least you get the option to connect it up to a larger screen. the nexus you are stuck with a piddly little 7 inch screen and no keyboard (which may be fine for some people but i know i wouldnt be too keen).

i will say i wouldnt buy this but i also arent rushing out to buy a 7 inch tablet made by asus despite the hype.

nexus 7 has got higher screen resolution than this netbook. and it's 400 nit IPS.

If you had a tablet, you would have known, that 95% of the time you don't need keyboard, and when you do, you can manage with the onscreen one.

I would still recommend Nexus as a tablet, for various other reasons. For general use then a refurb 15.6" laptop. I do mention that as well, you only seem to have reacted to Nexus.

I run an online business and I started by buying a Blackberry Playbook to take around with me but I soon found out that I couldn't do what I needed on the move with regards to using office programmes etc, although it was great for browsing.

I now take my netbook everywhere with me which is running full microsoft office 2010 and it doesn everything I need it to, so a netbook is good for some people.

    For real world applications

    Netbook > Tablet

    ...Hands down
