Free, 3 year warranty link:

Note - both offers expire at the end of October, so be quick!

Was looking at the M277 model for about £200 then realised the 377 model had a cashback offer (buy it from Amazon for £252 and get £70 cashback = £182). Then I realised the 477 model also had a 3 year warranty offer, so overall paying an extra £25 to get the 3 year warranty. Seemed like a good idea to me.

And I'm getting a model with "200" more in it's number. It's got to be better, right?

Staples was the best price I could find.

Note - the warranty and cashback is for very specific models - so check whether it has fax, wireless, duplex, etc if buying elsewhere.

This model has numerous problems and new toner will bankrupt you, but at least it isn't worse than the terrible Lexmark inkjet you currently have.

Nah just kidding, have some heat :D

This printer is great, good output, not too noisy and takes thick card. Duplex works well as does the auto feed scanner. Still on starter toner after 6 months of 10-15 pages per week (heavy colour)

Thank you, perfect timing! My Brother MFC9340CDW 4 in 1 was collected by Amazon this morning after a week of attempted use, almost every single time I used it I had to reset the network connection, I was advised to only use it via a cable. Erm, kinda defeats the object of having a wireless printer.......... Only thing that puts me off HP slightly is the price of the consumables, but after looking at reviews, the solid wireless connection is luring me in. guess I'll start saving for the toner replacement :-)

Bought this 3 months ago, an absolutely stonking machine! Great price too!

Great deal, I need something similar in a black or black and silver colour. The wife likes things to match. oO

Why is the toner so expensive?

I'm only £40 to replace all 4 on my current brother laserjet I'm wanting to replace (rather than replace the £100 drum)

Why is the toner so expensive?

I think all the vendors have adopted a commercial model where they sell the printers at a loss and make money on the consumables. I know a large business who (about a decade ago) got 2,000 printers for free, as the vendor knew they would make money on toner and the support contract.

I'm *not* an expert, but I think you need to consider the number of pages the cartridge can deliver - this printer is targeted at small offices, so a black toner cartridge is c.6,500 sheets, which I think is quite a high capacity - you need to work out the price/page.

And then there's the question of buying manufacturer vs compatible/3rd party cartridges - everyone seems to say that compatible cartridges are okay which can reduce the cost massively (the link provided by cjhilton49 - earlier [thanks!] had cartridges for about £130 rather than the HP cartridges at £400+.

But yes, it's all eye-wateringly expensive, isn't it?

I didn't even look at the HP consumables because I'm not into playing that game. £400 is unbelievable.

Not sure how many pages my £40 brother toner is meant to be good for.

You've got me interested - do you know the model number of your Brother printer?
