1.0 out of 5 stars Not sure Hp know what they are doing with this, 2 Mar 2011
By Mick - See all my reviews
This review is from: HP Officejet 6500A e-All-in-One Printer (Electronics)
Bought this HP after owning HP printers for longer than I can remember, every other HP I have ever bought you just plugged into the PC with the USB and it self set up and was ready for use straight away. Not this one, after having returned the first one as the scanner did not work, the replacement they sent was the same printed fine, sent faxes but would not scan, weeks of emailing to HP support and phone calls later and HP informed me that this printer does not work if you have internet explorer 8 or above on your PC, you have to remove IE8 and go back to IE7 and it will work.

Other reviews made no mention of this and I am not sure if I was so unlucky as to have been sent 2 printers that the scanner did not work on?

It also has japanese drivers on and for example does not recognise DL size envelops but in fairness still printed out OK.

I have no idea if what HP support told me is fact or not as not being a technical person how would I know, what I do know is that if this is correct and is the reason for this model of printer not working, (scanning) who in their right mind makes and sells a printer in 2011 that does not work if your PC has IE8 installed?

1.0 out of 5 stars HP officejet 6500A (I am disappointed), 23 Feb 2011

This review is from: HP Officejet 6500A e-All-in-One Printer (Electronics)
Just received a printer HP 6500A Officejet. After installation, realized that the printer does not support wireless communication. Although at Amazon's website it was advertised as having wireless feature(+ the sticker on the printer also showed a wireless mark). Moreover a cord which connects computer and a printer is also missing from the pack. I am extremely disappointed and would like to return this printer asap.

it is £77.99 from amazonhttp://www.amazon.co.uk/HP-Officejet-6500A-e-All-in-One-Printer/dp/B003VMZSMY/ref=sr_1_4?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1303485658&sr=1-4so with the cashback it comes to only £37.99

That is not the Plus model and the cashback is not applicable so it will cost more.

Just to make clear officejet 6500a PLUS is the model with wireless, as can be seen from this review the buyer has the normal model.

Is Amazon a qualified partner site, as HP stipulate to get the cashback? If so, I think I may go for this offer.

Nice find op. ;)

Yes. They have info on Amazon on the offer and it shows this model.
Staples and John Lewis also have it for £100 and they are also partners; Quidco with Staples so they are potentially the cheapest and next day delivery is free.

do you mind if i add in JL and Staples in the title/description? Personally I've already ordered it from amazon, but might help a few people out if they have points/discounts?

So want to get this but not if the ink is stupidly expensive.
Has anyone actually got this printer ?

Bought this via LASKYS last week, HP confirmed £40 cashback today! Read the following thread for your source of cheap ink. Check youtube for refill tips also. http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/hp-officejet-plus-6500a-e-one-web-enabled-printer-97-49-delivered-with-free-usb/914874?page=1

Is it safe to use compatibles? Will they damage the printhead?
#20
Bought this 2 weeks ago when it was on Amazon. Amazing printer! Everything works as it should and setup is easy and straightforward. The reviews above are for the normal model and not the plus model which this is.

I'd say it drinks it more than eats it and it sups a lot slower than some; it ain't no alcoholic.

id like to say Agharta your support to people asking questions, and wit has been outstanding on this thread. Its really nice to see people helping the community for no personal gain, and I think no one will argue with me on this: Thankyou from the HUKD Community!

Using code: IV3111 (Submitted by: golden), Gets £10 off which swayed my decision to get one with staples and the TCB of 7% is a bonus.

OOS at staples now

Ok, ring up and back order it then. Code still works and you have ordered before the 30th so hp cashback is still available, no tcb though!
#34
Just sent off for the cash back offer. How long does it take before I see this money in my account?
