Not seeing anything wonderful, very ordinary sort of pricing.

Discontinued model, & you can put something together on Dell at less, although with slim case, less options (esp. without monitor) there so a bit hard to give a very specific example, but just to place it in context price-wise here is an eg.

http://www.dmxdimension.com/recommend-vostro/D01S210

it has HDMI a 20" monitor and dedicated graphics, for £436 so with an analogue/DVB TV tuner for less than 20 quid and a 250 USB HD for 40 quid (if you really need it) to compete with the 160Gb HP Pocket drive, the machine is a bit better spec, with more RAM too although a freebie Media Centre Software would be needed too if you want to run it in that Media Centre "mode" as it is Vista Business on that.(NO hardship that!) That would be, say about £496 with the monitor too - a decent 20" is worth £116 of anyone's money - Obviously not the right thing if you don't want a monitor - as I say not exact comparison, just comparable features and function to serve as an illustration that it is pretty much the going rate on a system I can immediately put my finger on.

Without the slim case, very much easier to get better options, as ever I would only go for a slim case if I really NEEDED to.

The title always contained the delivery price.
You must have missed it, same as you missed half the components when making your comparison.:-D
The Vostro is a good deal in it's own right but not a good comparison against this.
This is a media centre PC, Vista Business definately wouldn't be a good choice especially if you wanted to use the media centre remote.
I don't think the Vostro has comparable connectivity. Does it have firewire, wireless lan, DVI, HDMI, S-Video, Digital audio out, media drive bay?
Add a card reader, wireless keyboard, wireless mouse, media remote and you'll get closer to this deal.

I think you totally missed my point about comparison, even though I spelled it out very deliberately in the posting that it was not direct comparson, and seeing as you make errors in your comments about it, you didn't even fully read it, or the content of the linked machine.eg. HDMI!

This serves as an interesting exercise for me, and puts to bed the concept that cold voting should be justified in a posting (which I usually try to do except in very blatantly obvious cases)- it looks like a good old fashioned cold vote without a word said gets opinion across just the same without the effort of trying to stimulate discussion. No one takes any notice anyway!

Clearly the low temperature of the deal illustrates others formed a similar opinion with or without my comparative exercise, so I won't waste my time so often in future.

Oh, did I miss HDMI? On the face of it, it was you who didn't check my deal before commenting, you missed the remote, card reader etc as well as insinuate that I had posted the deal without the delivery charge included.

Hope it was a good excercise for you, maybe you have learned enough to post your own deals now.

Hot/Cold I don't care, the low temperature illustrates nothing; lack of a sensible comparison speaks volumes.

Was I supposed to just accept your poor comparison and ultimate wisdom and not comment back that I thought it was poor?
