No, even the HP compatibles are higher priced than say that for Canon or Epsom. I used to have a HP Printer (until last month) and found this out by experience.

Epson are great value. I have an R300, and the third party carts are a quid each on SVP. Works for me :)

I have the R360 and found it much cheaper to run than HP Photosmart (I bought the HP from QVC on an impulse and regretted it)> HP make a big deal about how their cartridges can withstand a 15 metre drop - who would even try it?:w00t:

Also, HP printers may be getting cheaper because of an apparent bug in the software. It interfers with your Internet connection if you use IE7 or Advant. I could not use the printer and be on the Internet at the same time. HP support had no answer.

Have some rep back for being a good sport :)
I wanted to say how pricy the HP carts were, but I didn't wanna trash your deal. But, the Epson R3xx series are one of the most economical printers you can buy. They print great photos as well as printing directly onto printable DVDs and CDs (well, the R300 does)
