Just bagged one @ Tesco Glasgow next to Costco, plenty left, l have been looking for a decent web cam for a while.

Cheers.

Shame the PC section is so small at my local super none of these or the HP desktop sets. Since it's USB Video Class you don't even need OS specific drivers for these.
#16
Thanks OP, went and bought one. Two different stands for different monitor/screen thicknesses is useful too.

Just got one from Tesco Warrington - plus got a £2 off household goods voucher at the till. Amazing deal, thanks!! Heeeeaaaattt

Just try and get the Windows 7 approved one as the Vista one has older software and HP want £10 to upgrade.

just tried it. its ok imo - my ps3 eye cam on my pc (yes i was using it as a webcam) did a better job in low light conditions i think.

Anyone else having problems with the install cd?
#22
Just got myself one from Handforth - still still had quite a few left :)

Just in case anyone else had a problem with the cd or magic-i software, I found the info below. It turns out that I had bought the webcam with software v1.3 (went to a different store that had v1.5).

This document pertains only to HP Deluxe, HP Premium Autofocus, and HP Elite Autofocus Webcams being used in Windows 7.
The following three HP webcams came with Arcsoft Magic-i 3 software.

*
KQ246AA - HP Deluxe Webcam
*
KQ245AA - HP Premium Autofocus Webcam
*
GX607AA - HP Elite Autofocus Webcam

Arcsoft Magic-i 3 software fails to initialize when installed in Windows 7. The following error message appears after installing Arcsoft Magic-i 3 in Windows 7:

*
Error: We cannot find "Arcsoft Magic-I Driver" in your computer. Please reinstall Magic-I to fix this problem. If the problem persists, contact our technical support staff for help.

Resolution
A new software CD has been created that fixes the problem. If you have an earlier version, you will need to uninstall the software and install a more recent version.
Disc information for HP Deluxe Webcam (KQ246AA) and HP Premium Autofocus Webcam (KQ245AA):

*
Use Installation disc version 1.4 or higher.
*
Do NOT use version 1.3 or lower. Any software CD version lower that version 1.4 will not install correctly on Windows 7 64 bit. Installation disc version 1.4 is black and green and labeled with part number 5014-0797. If the software CD indicates version 1.4 or higher, the software will install correctly on XP, VISTA (32 and 64 bit), Windows 7 (32 and 64 bit). Any of the new blue CDs (OV3) with part # 573510-001 or 573514-001 will install correctly.

Cant get the cd to work with windows 7 32bit.

What version number does your cd have?

From what I can remember, the 'magic-i' software on the cd does this (if you get it working!)

Now that I have the v1.5 cd, all software is working using windows 7 64bit.

Got one from Yaxley store (big one near Peterborough) still had 5 on the shelf and 2 others hidden in a different place.

Seems a good cam, takes pretty good pics to

These are still available in Tescos @ Strawberry fields in Southend. I have experienced installation problems on on of my PC's running XP. Couldn't get it working no matter what I did. Worked on another machine fine, so be warned. If the software works, it's great. The camera will work as a webcam without the Arcsoft software, just the face recognition and the zoom won't work. Search the web, loads of people have had problems with this software.
