How would this be as a gaming rig?

it's an entry-level server. so you'll have either a very poor server or the noisiest pc you could conceive of

Dunno, but i wouldn't call a Quad core machine "very poor".
Certainly correct about being the noisiest pc though! which is the main reason i'd give this a pass, unless someone is planning to stick this server in a corner far , far away!!

They are not that loud, first boot the fans are but go to a reasonable level after a few seconds. If you take a look at the comments from all the other posts a lot of people are using these as Gaming PC's

TBH I would go for the Xeon 3065 on insight it still comes with 250gb + DVD+-RW and 3 year warranty for a little under £200.00 if they still have any.

Spot on regarding noise levels, be aware that the 110 is a nightmare to convert to a games / windows machine, the 115 is fairly simple. This is £15 cheaper on the other thread!

Does anyone have one of these? I am intrigued that in some of the specs on other sites it says that you can only use 4x500Gb drives in this model, giving a total of 2Tb capacity. Is this true that you cannot go beyond that capacity ? I have looked on the web but cannot find any advice on that specific question. I have 0ne 500Gb disk and three 750Gb disks I would like to put into one of these.

Currently running 4x1.5TB in RAID5 - no issues :-D

Has anyone used a watt-meter ("kill-a-watt" in Americanese) on the generic unmodified version of the ML115 to see how much electricity it uses at idle and perhaps also at 100% CPU usage?

If anyone could do so, it would be nice :)
#25

no great deal imho, I got mine next working day, your deal is 7 day delivery or pay more than digital fusion.

Cheers mate, ordered this from IT24-7 after Digital Fusion decided to take my cash, but then hit me with a back order email and told me that they could'nt hold the price, checked their website and the "new" cost is £410.85

Rep Added!
