HP Proliant ML115 Server Tower AMD Opteron 1352 Quad Core 2.10 GHz 1GB RAM 160GB Hard Drive DVD-ROM 1yr Limited Warranty

Just wish it was http://hotukdeals.com/item/299010/hp-proliant-ml115-g5-quad-server-2-/ as i bought one of those before.

Feel sorry for the people who have just recently bought of ebuyer and digital fusion.

There are 70 in stock right now but as the stock level drops, the price will rise!!!!!

Good luck!

You'll probably getting it quicker than 7 days. and 6 quid can go towards getting 8GB RAM from crucial for those that want it.

Absolutely, especially as i paid £171 only a few days ago, £16 would have gone alsmost halfway towards 8gb ram rather than just the 4gb corsair i got from ebuyer

Here we go again with the yo-yo price on this server, just a shame it doesn't have the 3 yr warranty this time round.
#12
Cannot recommend this store enough, free delivery came next day. Managed to get an Antec fusion for £95, next cheapest was ebuyer @£115
#13
Gone for a pair, cheers. We bought a load of the ML110's last year at their reduced rate and could do with a few more.

These are great for testing/playing with.

These prices will be increasing dramatically at most places including IT247 over the next day or two as HP have pulled the discounts on them in April.
Only those suppliers who actually have stock (and don't work off supplier feeds) will be able to still offer the discounts.
I'm unable to say where as I have an association with one such company but i'm sure by searching online you'll soon find us :)

Is that the HD2600 Pro the best card you can fit into this badboy i doubt my spare 8800GS would go but i was hopefully going to use one of these as my new gaming rig
#19
I'm not 100% the stock level on it247 is correct, so if whats been said about the prices going up, then some people might miss out on this.

No mate, I had it as a spare... the chip cooler runs close to the top of the card and the slot below is covered, prob fit any card in there to be honest, the pci and pcix slots are at the bottom (sound cards) pci is 3v (slot nearest the rear of case).

How noisy is this system? Is it suitable for home use? The last cheap server I bought sounded like an aircraft taking off!
#23
The chipset is nVidia NFP3400, so I went to the Nvidia website and checked the drivers for the 3000 professional range, I noticed there wasn't an audio driver listed, does this mean I need a sound card?

Is the integrated graphics chip good enough for watching movies?

Thanks.

servers have no need for sound, yes you need a soundcard, the soundcard is the hardest thing to fix if you want a desktop from this, usb or pci are best bet (note pci is 3v type)

no idea about graphics chip, any cheap pcie card should fit

Any recommendations on a cheap soundcard that will work with it, pci 3v?

Depends on the OS you use mate, the slot is suitable for older cards so drivers are an issue on anything newer than XP.

If you search on here there are pics of the slot and cards etc, I don't want to name any cards because of the variables, hope you understand

pci (note slot nearest to mounting plate, needs a single slot there or dual like this one)

pcie any of this type should work but are dearer

also usb external cards. :)

Actually it might be easier to use a USB soundcard.

(We posted at the same time)

Thanks again for your help mate. :)

Any integrated graphics is good enough to display movies (except blueray and HD-DVD as they have extra requirements) as they are 2D and have no rendering work to do etc like you have with 3D graphics in games.

Ordered the Xeon ML110 yesterday from IT247 @ 15:20, received it 10 minutes ago on the 7 day delivery, result :whistling:

It was possible to get this about last summer for £100 and I think it was a fiver less for the slightly better specced xeon version.

So the price may go lower - as they are still making them - and businesses are now in no rush to buy.

its a shame rack servers are never this cheap

I'm soooo tempted to buy this. Was thinking of playing around with multiple servers on it using VMs since its quad core, just need some more ram for it...

H&R added!

Just wondering, can this also be turned into a decent gaming pc? Whats the deal with getting a decent graphics card for it?
