Damn you HUKD, I am so tempted to purchase to replace my DLink NAS. How many likes I receive on this comment will determine if I purchase or not :D

Does the server have to arrive before the 31st August for the claim to be valid?

    Cheaper to buy the other

They have no way to tell when it was delivered, to my knowledge. Provided you don't hit a problem with working days. You just fill in the form and send it off, say it arrived the day after you bought it regardless. The receipt will only show the day you actually made the purchase, so you should be fine.

Is the online / email invoice good enough for the cash back claim?

Thats what I sent them, but you do need the serial number from the server itself.

Does anybody know how much energy this consumes when not active?

Also, I have a ZyXEL NSA310 - could somebody give me an idea of what I would gain from upgrading to the microserver? The ZyXel if ok, but occasionally drops off the network. Any advice appreciated :-)

They will renew the offer again next month just like they do every month

Thanks gone for this. Cheapest so far with Quidco I believe. Should come to £89.15 with Quidco and cash back :)

I dont even need one as I already have one but am even tempted to buy this as a spare. Because Sods Law dictates I wont be able to find one when I do need it.

Wow .. this just keep getting cheaper! Will copy past my 'useful guide post' from the other thread as it may help others here as well...

As always, plenty of well documented guides around if you don't know what this is capable of.

Yes it can but it doesn't include an operating system and won't have a sound card etc. It's really not the purpose it was intended for so I'd advise caution and maybe go down another route.

And only has a VGA out.
I used it as a desktop for about a week. It's a little bulky, loud and slow for that purpose but it worked as you might expect a machine with these specs. So it's primarily a mini server but can be used as a cheap desktop with the additon of a grpahics card (google for the best type) and an operating system (linix, WIndows, etc)

No need to go down another route, will make a perfectly good desktop / Media player & streamer / NAS / Virtual Host!!!

Just need to get an ATI 5450 silent graphics card for around £28 for 1GB DDR3 model, which will give you Full HD graphics and digital sound through HDMI port.

You can install Linux, XBMC, ESX or Hyper-V for free depending on what you want to use the server for (desktop, NAS, Media, Virtualisation etc...)

This is the best little play box ever and worth it's price in parts alone. Virtually silent when running and very low power usage.
