Great price for this well-regarded scanner. Usually £50+ with shipping and probably won't stay at this price for long. Compact, easy-to-use and great for general scanning duties. Fully compatible with Windows 8.1

For those serious about photos, you might want to spend more on a scanner with 4800 x 4800 resolution, such as the Scanjet 300 or Canon LiDE 210.

One plus with these HPs compared to the Canon 210 is that the included software is meant to be better.

Seems like a good price :) I've been looking for a scanner this week. Last scan I did at 2400 x 4800 dpi was 4960 x 7016 pixels and I could see the grain of the photo before it pixelated. I've been trying to work out when I might ever need more than that!

Yeah, my old Epson 2480, which won't work with Windows 8.1, has same resolution as this HP. Photos scanned are good quality, so assume this is at least that good.

I've been hunting a Canon 700F for ages after missing the deal on here quite a while ago... My 650u was perfect at the time, but its really showing its age now.

If this one can handle slides and negs I might have a rethink!

The 700F gets some really shocking reviews for it's film scanning and it can't handle slides:

I was curious after you mentioned it.

You might possibly be better off with this:

Thanks for the tip off moneysaverkitten...

The link you've posted is dead now, so I'm guessing the product is gone or changed. That's the trouble with HD's app... No notification of replies.

Nonetheless, thanks for taling time to offer help!

Blimey... No wonder it sold out for a tenner. Poppled it on the watch list on my Amazon account, but can't see it going close to that price.

Thanks for the suggestion. Very much appreciated!
