Not if it's a completely rubbish tablet.

Which it is.

Cheap if you like paying £90 for a bag of dog poop maybe.

They are simply not very functional.

Had 1, sent it back 2 days later because I was appalled how bad it was compared to other tablets we have used Ipad, Blackberry Playbook, Nexus
please can you say what was wrong with it in comparison?

Good price but not exactly that much reduction as recent price has been 99. 3g is not that generous either as its only 250mb per month. Signal isnt so great either.

Check here, it was on this week for much less than that if you really want one of these pokies

Are you sure you are talking about the HD model and not the standard one? Had this Tablet before and found it very good value for money.

Can you supply the link where you saw it for "much less".

£89 or possibly £84 @ Tesco Direct using discount codes

http://www.tesco.com/direct/hp-slate-7-hd-tablet-with-2-year-3g-mobile-broadband-silver/532-7899.prd

£15 off £75 (TDXR-PYRT) - works for some existing customers
£10 off £75 (TDX-7PFX) - working for all customers

Edit: Those two codes stopped working but can still use new customer code TDX-KYNK for £10 off £50

Edited By: Chanchi32 on Jul 23, 2014 09:55: updated code

Decent review here - http://www.techradar.com/reviews/pc-mac/tablets/hp-slate-7-hd-1242425/review

Points out the major positives and negatives, doesn't seem too bad a buy at the price it is now. Full price was another matter though.

Data is 250MB per month.

Can we receive and make phone calls?
#21
I have one of these from when it was on sale at the HP Store. Seriously, you cant complain for the money. Its no iPad but its plenty quick enough. I gave it to my 7-year old son since as always, I buy things that are listed here then ask myself afterwards why I did.

Its really a lot of tablet for the money and the 3G is to be considered a bonus not a moan that its only 250MB. If you want more, you can buy more from the airtime co.

Its a solid enough well built tablet and probably the cheapest 3G enabled one out there (let alone the bit of free data every month).

All in all a very good deal. But try HP Store in case they have some left, I'm sure I paid around £85 for mine with a code.

Can we receive and make phone calls?

This was the main reason I bought mine. Unfortunately it cant be used as a phone and I searched high and low for a hack then gave up.

It's a shame HUKD don't have a 'dislike' button for comments. £10 further reduction is £10 less, plain and simple. 250mb of 3G per month for two years is worth at least £60 over the two years based on 1p per mb, which is a cheap rate for low users. This was a bargain before at £99 and it's an even bigger bargain now.

Personally I'm waiting for the new HP Slate 7 VoiceTab as you can make calls with dual sim capability and it just's looks better. However, I don't think Tesco will stock it in time for the current Clubcard Boost.

you should be able to use viber Skype or other voice over up based apps...depends what apps are available. best to use a headset though

I bought this tablet from TESCO last week for same price.

It loses WIFI Connectivity more often.
Battery life is no good.

Even screen is no so responsive. .

Only good thing is internet connection 250mb available for 2 years.

Dreadful dreadful tablet. Hopeless screen, slow responses, gutless. Had one for 3 days and sold it. Avoid
#28
how can the coverage be checked? And will the mobile broadband work outside UK?
#29
It makes me laugh when people compare this to an iPad - it's not a like for like comparison. An iPad mini with retina and 3G capability is over £400 and that's without the 250Meg a month for two years. This is LESS THAN A QUARTER OF THE PRICE !!

I do wonder whether people on here saying it's rubbish have ever actually owned one, and if they did quite what they expected for sub £100 ???

Speaking as someone who actually has one (bought from Tesco on the last deal for £89), it's a solid little tablet. Battery life is good (but not as good as my 1st Gen Nexus 7), touch is responsive, screen is clear, speed is fine for surfing and playing games. Mobile data is provided by a company piggy backing on the 3 network, so coverage is as good as the 3 network - living in the south east this is fine for me most places I go. 3 recently upgraded their mobile network to allow you to make and receive calls and use data in a number of countries worldwide out of your usual bundle. Sad to say, when I went to France recently my tablet just said "no network" so looks like this doesn't extend to the VMO.

I 'upgraded' from an Asus Memo HD7 and find this a terribly slow tablet. So laggy, not even rooting and trimming helps. There is no overclock kernel available but I am using Antutu CPU Master to run both cores at the max. When you turn it on and it checks for email and downloads updates it is impossibly laggy. You just have to put it aside for 15 mins until it has completed those initial tasks.

The wifi and data connections are pretty poor and unreliable. Signal is often there but there is no throughput.

As for Sky Go, it will work if you take the SIM out. Otherwise it thinks you are roaming, even on wifi with cellular disconnected.

Whilst the hardware isn't groundbreaking, it should certainly perform better than it does.
