Is this a proper phablet? Ie. can calls be made using it as a huge phone?

I like the big brand, but that's an old version of Android.

Answering my own question having checked the site, it does say it has full phone capability. Still, it's not clear if a headset must be used for that or if it can be held like a big phone.

There's no mention if what the included "mobile data package" is.

When I tried to order it automatically adds 2 devices and I had to remove now I'm not sure if I ordered the dual sim or single sim

Please check this website for full specification and reviews:

Would snap this up if I knew 3's systems saw this as a phone and not a tablet..... would be ideal for customers on the new plans that don't allow tethering.

If you are after a dual sim, bear in mind that on gsm arena specifications it states dual sim not dual sim standby where both sims work at the same time so can receive calls at the same time and if you are on one call then any call to the other sim would go to answerphone. Like the moto g 2014 5" which is dual sim standby.

Is HP DataPass confirmed as included in the deal? As the text states clearly:

[2] Broadband use requires separately purchased service contract. Check with service provider for coverage and availability in your area.

If HP Datapass (200Mb/mo x 2 years) is included, then this is an even better deal.

Would be nice if the voicepad 6 could be purchased at this price. Cant find it on the website.

reads like HP DataPass is included on the Slate Voicetab 7?

HP Datapass Voicetab 7

bottom of the page:

"Available on the HP Slate7 VoiceTab only. HP DataPass service starts on date of hardware purchase and is subject to availability. HP DataPass entitles customer to 250MB data usage every month for 2 years.

Additional monthly data usage packages are available for purchase. HP DataPass data packages are also available to purchase after the expiry of your two years of included monthly data. Data connection speeds can vary due to location, environment, network conditions, and other factors.

HP DataPass service does not support roaming and activation is only available in selected countries, please contact your retailer or the following link for HP DataPass availability. Use or activation of HP DataPass service is your agreement to Fogg Mobile AB’s Terms and Conditions.

Available on select HP PCs and Tablets SKUs in select countries only, check with your local HP reseller for availability. United States: HP DataPass, you get the freedom and convenience of anywhere (for life); (Other countries) HP DataPass, you get the freedom and convenience of anywhere (2 years)."

Dual SIM card and at least one, probably both, are Data Enabled. So yes, you can send to any country that supports WCDMA (900/2100 MHz) or GSM (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) and will work to browse internet.

Hi all, please take a look at information below regarding HP Data Pass:

http://store.hp.com/UKStore/Merch/Show.aspx?p=freemobility-faq

- What is HP DataPass?
HP DataPass simplifies connecting to the Internet by including mobile broadband service in addition to Wi-Fi. The mobile broadband service and monthly data package provides a connection when Wi-Fi is not available and is already included with your device. HP DataPass is ready out-of-the box, simply turn-on, register, and connect to the Internet, with no contract.

- Why is it different from Wi-Fi?
Mobile data or mobile broadband uses cellular networks in the same way as cell phones and has a much broader coverage area than Wi-Fi hotspots which are localized to a specific Wi-Fi network.

- Why don’t I go to my Operator for service?
Because HP has made it easy. A device with HP DataPass is ready out-of-the-box with no need to get a contract or sign up for a carrier plan. Just turn on, register, and connect, it’s that easy.

- What will it cost?
Nothing. HP DataPass automatically includes a mobile data bundle for each month during the lifetime of the service.

- What if I need more data than is included?
If you use up your included data you will be notified and additional data packages can be purchase whenever you need it at low pre-paid rates. And your included data bundle will be refreshed every month automatically.

- Do I have to sign a contract?
No, the data bundle included with HP DataPass only requires that you register with the HP DataPass system and activate service. No credit card or contract is required to activate the service.

- Does HP DataPass support roaming?
HP DataPass service will only work in the county in which it was first registered at this time.

- How much included data do I get?
The HP DataPass service comes with a 250MB data bundle that is refreshed every month during the lifetime of the service. Additional data bundles are available for purchase any time you need.

The point about this specific bundle is that i don't see "DataPass" anywhere in the text. The title states "with Mobile Data Package" so i assume it is meaning DataPass, but also at the bottom of features they add :

"[2] Broadband use requires separately purchased service contract. Check with service provider for coverage and availability in your area."

I have contacted HP directly to clarify if DataPass is included or not. Without, this is an average deal. DataPass would make it way better.

word of warning, was about to buy, but not sure if there are 2 models of the Voicetab, as the HP KitKat upgrade seems to reference model 3900na - HP KitKat upgrade 3900na

HP Slate Voicetab Ultra Tablet 3900na - Specs - 2 GB LPDDR3 SDRAM, HiSilicon Balong V9R1 Quad-Core ARM Cortex™-A9 (1.6 GHz)

the model on this offer appears to be a different spec version,

HP Slate 7 6100ea VoiceTab - Specs - 1 GB DDR2 SDRAM, Marvell® Quad-Core PXA1088 (1.2 GHz), model ref 6100ea

there doesn't seem to be a KitKat update for the 6100ea - HP 6100ea Software Updates

Couldn't quite figure out what was wrong here - but it's the title "HP Slate 7 Voicetab Ultra Smartphone Tablet with Mobile Data Package "

Its not the Ultra, which is thinner, faster, upgradeable and twice the price. The product specs on the page reference the non-ultra product (6100ea)

My invoice states HP Slate 7 6100ea VoiceTab-United Kingdom G2E65EA with no reference to the data pass
Since the data pass is only mentioned in the product title, I wonder if this a cut and paste error also.
#33
That'll be an error on their part then. The title clearly says "Ultra" and "Data pass" plus 3 cases and adapter.

Wonder what people are going to do when they receive no Ultra tablet and Data pass?
#34
Good question. If it is not the Ultra, I can live with it. But without the Data Pass it goes back.

same here.
#37
Was about to buy it because it seems like a steal for a 3G tablet but this confusion over standard and Ultra seems annoying - and the Ultra is the one to get without a doubt... How can a company as big as HP fluff that up?!

I suspect even for the standard tablet it's a good deal but it's kind of hard to know what you're actually getting right now!
#38
This is the sort of junk that I'm great at wasting money on. Will I use it enough? No... but it is an awkwardly large phablet with 3G, 3 free cases and free data...
#39
Hello all. Jus go to hp web site and take a look at data sheet .
And it says 3G embedded I think that means data
