I was looking at this monitor yesterday, has HDMI connector. Official specs here;

...HP sites says 1000:1 (typical) while Laskys says 3000:1 Contrast range :?

£189.99 is the best direct price I could find - you could go with John Lewis at £199.99 but with 7% Quidco brings it down to £186 + peace of mind!

Isn't there a £20 code as well for JL getting it down to £180 even before adding 7% Quidco as you've mentioned above.

Might account for the cold rating. Might not!

Hi everyone! Happy new Year! Im in the process of buying a 22 moniter myself. From all the homework i have done, reading reviews (looking at the units) My conclusion is, the only 22 moniters to choose from are the HP and the Samsung. I have seen both in action and are very impressive! They both have excellent picture, good contrast (3000:1) and excellent colour ratios. But to be honest i am going with the Samsung, basicallly because the HP doesnt have a 2m responce time HP is 5m, Hp has a HDMI but only will produce a 720p maximum resolution NOT 1080i, or 1080p. These are the 2 main reasons.

But this has been a very confusing matter!! Now i have choosen the moniter (Samsung) there a 3/4 different versions! All at very different prices!!! I have chosen the Syncmaster 226CW 22" TFT screen basically in short this is the best for, films, games and office use and has the best colour % in all Samsung models. There are the 226BW 22” TFT screen and 2232BW TFT monitor and simular models with longer responce times, but from the homework i have done, the 226CW 22" TFT is the best SAMSUNG 22'' manufactured model. What i will say is the only negative is it doesnt have speaker installed. I hope this help anyone looking for a decent 22 moniter!! P.S Best price so far is £235.00 delivered with Pixmania, can use Quidco to for a further 4% discount! Anyone got one? Be nice to hear your opinion too! P.S Amazon got lots of reviews, just type 22 Samsung moniter can see all the different models.

Not everyone goes via Quidco and its not 100% you get the tracking/earning! But for a Direct Price + Shipping I believe this is the best I could find! Anyways its upto you to decide! Cheers! :thumbsup::thumbsup:

bought this today from staples for £199.99. Good monitor. 1000:1 contrast. the 3000:1 is dynamic contrast for films. Quick settings.
Main reason I went for this over the Samsung was the glass front, ( we have lived with glass fronts for years without complaint, and it helps with the contrast) and the superb rising and tiltable mount it has. A great product. Bought after 2 months of looking.

From what i have learnt it is a very good idea to see moniters in action, go to stores comet, pc world, and you can also see the build quality for yourself think that very important. The way i look at is i dont mind spending 200-250 as long as the moniter will last, and has the best up-to-date technology . I still think the HP is a very nice moniter!! But for me i will be playing games, running programes, surfing the NET alot. So i wont be useing the moniter to watch TV or a films. Probably use the system to stream movies to my living room but i wont be sitting in front of my moniter to watch films. There are better moniters out there for less money that will create a better image for Sky or dvd. From what i have learned it all comes down to what you will be useing it for.

Hope this is all usefull!

P.S Just found mine for £225.00 (Currys website) but they dont have stock : ( calling them tommorow.

Let me know what you go for anyways! P.S I really like the Angle adjustments on the HP moniter pretty cool!!!

I have this monitor and the adjustability is excellent. It also rotates to portrait mode which is handy. I will say the main drawback of the HP is it uses a cheaper 6-Bit LCD panel as opposed to an 8-Bit but I doubt I could tell the difference anyway! :thumbsup: Also if you have a digital DVI ouput you will need a HDMI to DVI cable as the cable supplied is only HDMI - HDMI.

I should point out though that this DOESN'T have a glass front, it is just a high gloss plastic.

the 226cw is the same one i got...yeh i couldnt understand why there are so many models but i believe the cw will soon be obselete and replacement by IMO the appallingly made 2232 with crud stand (doesnt support monitor properly)...the bw is similar but i preferred the cw's looks.....

bought my 226cw from pc world for 199.75 just before xmas - i obtained a 10% discount as i have a business account.....id check at your local pcworld as they may not have many left....

and whilst you are there laugh at the awful pebble 2232....it has a big fisher price high gloss surround - trust me, I have worked in computers for 20 years...that glossy surround will soon annoy you after a few months as will the nice big blue lit button (at the cw has a discrete button)

i was going to get another HP monitor at pcworld but it didnt have dvi but the height adjustment is a big advantage.....5ms or 2ms response time, sorry but you will not notice any difference
