Instead of just voting cold, can you please say why your voting that way ? it would really help me in deciding what one to go for Also what is the best laptop deal in the high street/retail park around the £300 mark, working away for the next month and need laptop to take with me so getting one mail order is not an option.

Thats not a bad laptop at all for the High Street, if you are a member of Quidco then order it ,but collect and pay in store and you would get 2.5% cashback = about £8.15 in cashback.

Not a bad spec - apart from the lack 802.11 n WiFi (b & g much slower). But not a HOT deal, more a lukewarm or tepid deal.

Stayed neutral - didn't vote.

Have a look at yesterday's postings. There where several new laptops with better specs for less (£249 at comet if my memory is right).

does an HDMI port on a laptop do the same as a VGA port,
or do you still need to use the VGA aswell.

An HDMI port allows you to connect to other devices with HDMI ports such as a monitor screen or TV. On the whole it should give you better images than VGA (D-Sub). However, if your existing monitor doesn't have HDMI you will need to connect to it via VGA.

Monitors, at the moment tend to come with VGA (15 pin D-Sub) / DVI / HDMI. They may have any one of these or a combination of 2 or 3. some televisions also have VGA but I've not come across one with DVI
