Just phoned them again, asked for your offer...said there was no way they had any record of doing that, and I was being lied to..Any chance you could specify what you told the sales advisor?

Phoned up. £30 per month.

Bear in mind the HTC Desire HD / HTC Ace will be announced tomorrow, so the Desire will likely drop in price over the coming months...

I got my Desire on O2 with 3000 txts, 300 minutes, 'unlimited' data and the handset for free for £30 per month, contract 24 months, and then Quidco on top of that. Search around mate!

If we're bragging......

I got *2* brand new HTC Desires for £160 with each on a 24 month contract with T-Mobile.

I then received £40 cash back (think it was top cash, but may have been quidco)

Here comes the best bit (for me) 100 minutes, Unlimited Texts, *Unlimited Internet at £10 per month. Bargain.

I don't think I'll ever understand the mentality that spending £600 on a mobile for 2 years is a bargain.

My phone does the majority of what the desire does (but is far less polished obviously) and with cashback works out at something like £50 over 18 months. Only 100 minutes, unlimited texts and 500mb internet, but a fraction of the price.

So what exactly is your point? You dont understand why people pay more money for better things?

Where and when?

Direct from T-Mobile Website a couple of weeks after the phone was launched.

The second phone was a mistake on their part - but I wasn't going to complain.

I think the tariff's available on sim only now.

Significantly more for slightly better things yes.

Unless they are rich and the money doesn't matter to them of course.

Maybe we dont like thinking twice before making a phone call and we use more minutes then you do and if we paid for every minute we went over ur measly 100 minutes, we would end up re mortgaging the house. Nothing to do with being rich or money not mattering, otherwise we wouldnt be on this website, but the whole allure of money is to splash on things that make us happy, whether that be cars, holidays, weddings or whether it be gadgets for men or a multifunctional device/mobile handset.

hmmm...my t mobile contract has just ended. been with them 8 years. retentions told me there is NO WAY they can do this phone for less that £30 a month due to it being a "premium handset". I have called them 3 times over the last 10 days but they aint budging......so forgive me for questioning the validity of your claim

Good phone! I got mine during the initial offer period. 24-month contract. 20/month. 300mins, 300 text, unlimited internet (3 GB?), unlim landline. 95 was deposit (this was deduced from monthly rents, so first 4 months no bill). Quidco 35. works out 445 for the entire period. A bit expensive, but well worth it being an early buyer.

Going up a price plan won't cost £550 though will it...

Maybe I should have specifically said I don't think there's anything wrong with you buying it - for a start it's much cheaper than an iPhone but mainly its your own money and you should spend it on what makes you happy.

I take your point but really, its just an exceptionally good phone that to me was worth every penny. In saying that, as ive pointed out in other threads, this is not much of a deal. I paid less than 500 for a brand new Desire the week it came out - 600 quid for a refurb 6 months later is poor.

Callum it seems you are the one wasting money, if you only have 100 minutes then you should not even have a phone. If I want to spend a measly £25 pound a month on a phone with a good few hundred minutes and the texts etc, I will. Its not even a pound a day which is a pittance to be honest and I doubt your phone is anyway near as good as this and that is why people buy this phone, because they are significantly better than the majority of others and minutes cost ALOT if you go over by even a few a month which anyone with more than one friend would on your contract.

Just maybe in a few years time when all the multi minutes bods are walking around brain dead with fried brains, Callum will have the last laugh and be a little richer. The mobile companies still hide away their advice on prolonged use in tiny print. Bring back the big red phone box
