a really good handset

That's stretching things a bit isn't it?

TalkMobile will mean only 3G but a good price still

Still a good network. I've been with them for couple of years, no problem.

Apparently this phone becomes mush if you try Pokemon Go with it: http://www.expertreviews.co.uk/mobile-phones/1404470/htc-desire-530-review-a-dotty-disappointment

It would help if OP stated that this used TalkMobile ie Vodaphone which is useless for me.
Lack of info so voted cold

actually the deal is not a bad one tbh but I would personally pick the £8 pcm with 2000 mins + 4 gb data. that is sufficient for me and I get the phone as the bonus.

Cold, worse in everyway than my aging HTC One M8 and could easily be bought for around £100 on eBay. This should def be sub £200

With a SD210 this is very much an entry level phone.
There are better phones out there at that price or lower - on the very website u can get a Moto G 3rd Gen or a Moto E 2nd gen with a better SD410 at a similar price

EE have been selling this for £99 on their eBay shop this week. No top up & free p&p. The £15 off £75 PayPal code would've brought it down further if you were lucky.

Would never buy in a 2 yr contract though

I eventually cancel my new contract with Vodafone for this one.
I think this deal deserve more heat, although not exactly the same deal that I took.
I took the 8pcm (after CB) for 2000 mins, 5000 text, and 4 gb data, combined with quidco £30.
If all being well, that means the cost is 8 * 24 - 30 - 70 (for selling the phone onto direct websites. might get more on ebay) / 24 months = £3.833 / month for 2000 mins and 4gb data.
I think that is an excellent deal!
