The phone is £348 unlocked payg, so your paying another £310 for the contract. Won't be voting but would rather get a sim only rather than being tied for 24months.

Fair enough, but then you have to be paying at least £10 per month for a reasonable sim card, and generally another £5 per month for the internet. At the end of the year one that still makes a cost of
£528 or £708 over the 24 month period.

I know thats why I didn't vote.

I lost my job last year and it was really tough paying the bills for some time, now luckily I have no minimum contract with any utility, so I could cancel my Sky, Phone, Broadband or line anytime I want.

This is one of the main advantage of not being tied to a contract, you never know anything may happen period!

Respect to you for getting through it and having the sense to do what you are doing now

Being tied in to these horrible 24 month contracts is as good as borrowing and the phone providers absolutely love you taking them out. These phones will no doubt be worth peanuts in 2 years and there will most probably be far better tariffs around.
As above has mentioned, we are not yet out of recession and where jobs are not guaranteed these are the last things you want.
