Guys I am back with HTC DESIRE DEAL , I just checked and found HTC DESIRE is back with the same Tariff as mention in my last post , which was expired as they have started charging £50 for a phone. BUT NOW IS FREE AGAIN!!!!!.

Deal which was hit last time!!

http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/htc-desire-dial-a-phone-20-18months/732810

GOOD FOR THOSE WHO MISSED LAST TIME!!
NOTE:- THIS DEAL IS JUST FOR THE PHONE AND NOT FOR THE CONTRACT.

Though the Contract is crap, but the price is good for the phone, compare to other places where it cost £400.

The phone comes free with £20 for 18months on O2 (not sure if the phone comes unlocked), Also you can Downgrade the contract to one level down which will £15, I personally called O2 and confirmed.

As i said the contact is crap you get 100 xnet minutes and unlimited text, NO DATA

So the deals comes like this
£20x9m = 180
£15x9m= 135
You also get £35 on TCB and £40 Quidco
Total = £ 315 – £40 = £275 (Without the pain of redemption)
You also get free mobile insurance for a month thereafter 6.99 a month and free 1 month gadget help online which can be cancelled any time.

I GOT THE PHONE 4 WEEKS BACK, THIS CAME WITH O2 BRANDING and LOCKED WITH O2, but you can get it unlocked for free by calling O2 customer services, this usually take 15 minutes to maximum 7 days.

IFYOU LIKE THE DEAL CAN PLEASE GIVE ME GOOD FEEDBACK. PLEASE….

I wouldn't say that is the best deal, there are better cash back deals with data listed below the deal.
#2
Quidco is not guaranteed (as I know to my cost). O2 sell the phone PAYG for 319.99 and the Samsung Galaxy S for 329.99 or thereabouts. Anyone know if there is a similar deal on the Galaxy S?

can you get a data bolt on?
#4
You really, really, really, really need data on this phone.

you can buts its a tenner a month,making this deal £30 per month and for that kinda money you can get a far better deal with data included,like other posters have said you really need to have a data allowance to make full use of all the features of this phone or indeed any android based phone

I ordered this deal on the 1st September and I've still not got the phone. The online system just keeps moving the delivery date forward by a day. I phoned them and was told that delivery might be the end of next week. Seems they keep taking orders and have no stock.

I have also had delivery dates promised over the phone which came and went.

I'm not saying don't go for this deal, but just be prepared to wait.

If you want a desire, best wait a week or so until HTC have their launch event.

O2 are now very greedy. Very expensive to get plans with data included and no longer budge on their prices for long standing customers.

Do a search on Google, or have a look at the mobile phones forum on money saving expert.
Lots of people saying they leaving are or have left O2 mainly due to two factors....
1) Not enough for your money
2) Too expensive on data plans
#9
im with o2 and think they fine, i only have to top up £10 a month for a data unlimited and that includes texts
#10
Also the day after I placed my order, I had a phone call that said there had been a processing problem and took the same card details again over the phone. The original order was cancelled and I presume there will be no Quidco for me.

I would take a Galaxy S at that price, Where did you see those prices? Can't find them on the o2 site.
#12
Isnt the Desire default setting to automatically have the data connection?

If you dont have a data plan then you really need to make sure this setting is switched off otherwise you'll get a nasty shock when you get your first bill.

Why would somebody buy this without a data package? it's like buying a car and not putting petrol in it.

Free WiFi doesn't cut it BTW unless you are a hermit.

my friend this deal is for phone not for contract, check the description.

'The phone comes free with £20 for 18months on O2 (not sure if the phone comes unlocked), Also you can Downgrade the contract to one level down which will £15, I personally called O2 and confirmed. '

When can you downgrade tariff? I assume after 9 moths according to your calculations
#17
Just found answer to above on 02:

Can I change my Pay Monthly tariff?

New and upgrading customers on 12, 18 and 24 month contacts may not move to a lower priced tariff within 9 months of connecting to the Network or upgrading. After 9 months, you may only move down one tariff, per month, to the next lower priced tariff to the one you originally connected or upgraded to until the end of your Minimum Period unless you pay us the difference between the monthly subscription on your original tariff and the lower rate tariff we agree that you may move to. If you change tariff, any unused rollover minutes will be lost.

I know Quidco not guarunteed, but cannot see any reason why it would not track/pay.

Have others had problems with Quidco tracking???

Thanks

Sorry; did you say something? I got distracted by those titanic jubblies.

Good deal... however might be worth waiting a couple of weeks for the HD to surface, hence lowering the value of the STD Desire. Although having said that, completely different Phones Imo

STD Desire? I don't think anyone desires an STD!

Not a massive difference in all fairness, it's got a higher MP camera, which doesn't mean much really, it's got a bigger screen, but it's still the same type of screen used in the current desire (SLCD) and it has more RAM, which you won't really notice as most apps are designed to run on all android phones and some of them are half the spec of the Desire HD. The HD isn't far from the spec of the normal desire, I wouldn't go so far as to say completely different.

It's a good price in all fairness.

Not a massive difference in all fairness

There are quite a few more difference that are worth mentioning though:

* More Internal Storage
* Longer Battery Life
* Dual LED Flash
* DLNA media streaming
* Faster Internet Speed
* Wi-Fi Tethering

Existing vodafone customers can get HTC Desire as an upgrade for
£25 a month for 18 months
300 xmins
unlimited txts
500MB Internet

My brother got it and managed to get the same deal for me (I was added as a second contract under his main one)
Seems much better than this deal.
#25
Without data, this phone is rendered useless. (From an owner!)
#26
Not a good deal for all these reasons:
No data, the phone is useless. Add the data and then it is not a deal anymore.
HTC have shot themselves in the foot by releasing 2 new versions of the Desire. All these companies are now trying to offload the old Desire.

I reckon if you wait slightly longer, you may get better deals on the older version. BTW not voting hot or cold as this may be good for somebody who was looking to buy this phone SIM free.
#27
Not this rubbish deal again !
It's not £20 a month, as you haven't factored in data costs - which on any smart phone is a necessity

Cold Cold Cold

This is the 3rd time you've posted this **** deal, and all at 3 week intervals. Why ? Do you work for Dial A Phone ?

Why don't you learn to read?

"NOTE:- THIS DEAL IS JUST FOR THE PHONE AND NOT FOR THE CONTRACT."

The total cost of the contract is lower than the cost of the phone alone on PAYG.

I did a similar thing on a different phone. I got a new phone to use with my existing contract (including data...) and my mum got given the O2 sim, and has no use for data and a dodgy microphone on the phone so 100 mins with unlimited texts is enough.

What? So it makes calls and texts via data connection?

Absolute ****, i have this phone, and only ever use wi-fi for data. Everyones different you know, and have different requirements!

Must add if you're wanting insurance, it's £10 on vodafone.

POOP deal, mine last week was 18 months on orange from phones4u, 300 minutes, 500mb data and unlimited texts for £25, plus the benefit of magic numbers and orange wednesdays and the cheapest insurance for the phone is from orange (£6)

Does this come unlocked? Unlikely. How is this comparable to a SIM only deal without factoring in unlocking fees/hassle. As such this is a rubbish deal.
#33
Please stop posting this stupid deal!
#34
I'll never take this kind of deal without a data plan. I have unlimited data package (albeit 3GB FUP) on T-mobile and I've managed to track the data usage for some time. You definitely will incure a lot of charges if you dont get a data plan with the phone.
If the data plan is £10 extra on top of this deal, then I'll say just dont bother. Find another better deal. Just my honest opinion.

Really regret not getting that offer.
#36
Did you guys read the spec on the HTC Desire new models being released? It is definitely worth the wait. In my opinion, the keyboard on HTC Desire is not so good (Swype is good, but could not get a working version for it yet. Beta expired too.). Tried Galaxy S and it is better in many areas. Now HTC Desire is out with specs better than Galaxy S. So, you know what do :)
#37
If you're not taking a data plan for this phone, either you have lots of money or you don't know the use of this kind of a phone. My suggestion, go for a data plan of at least 1GB (T Mobile is giving 3 GB fair use limit on unlimited).

It says:
'LOCKED WITH O2, but you can get it unlocked for free by calling O2 customer services'
#39
O2 quoted me this price for an "upgrade" on my 1 month simplicity tariff retaining the 1 month contract term.

I wouldn't lose too much sleep.
500MB a month is cutting it very close on a phone like this. There's a very good chance you'll go over that limit and incur extra charges.
