I was an O2 customer but phoned up Vodafone today and told them that I could potentially get £150 quidco if I signed up for a £30 per month 600 min/3000 text/500mb internet deal online;

http://shop.vodafone.co.uk/shop/price-plans/24-months-600-mins-unlimited-texts-30?serverName=managed8

The guy spoke to his manager and agreed to reduce the rate from £30 to £26.43 per month if I agreed to sign up for the same deal on the phone. Quidco is great but I didn't want to risk not getting it. I still get a great deal, for a great phone, on the best uk network. I believe you can get this deal if you want it but it requires explaining the whole quidco thing and pushing it a little.... good luck

Before the usual crowd vote cold for the usual reasons please remember - a lot of the better deals on this site are via t-mobile (an inferior network IMO) OR require signing up through sites that have bad feedback.

Also my upgrade is available after 21 months - I am not fused about a longer contract when I know I am getting a great phone. I have had my SE k800i for 3/4 years now and I still love it!

I phoned up using this freephone number 0808 0000166 and asked to be put through to sales

I hope this deal helps someone out there :-)

p.s. I tried to get the twitter deal - contacted them a week ago but have heard nothing back hence why I acted and called vodafone instead

You can get the following from Vodafone's twitter web team:

24 month contract
600 minutes
Unlimited Texts (Fair Usage Policy of 3000 SMS)
Unlimited Internet (Fair Usage Policy of 500MB)
Vodafone Passport
Free HTC Desire
This would normally cost £30 per month including VAT, however if you take the offer through us, we’ll offer the same for £25 per month for the whole length of the contract.

Hope that helps.

Its not out until 10th may with o2 I think. This is the 2nd time they have pushed the release date back - hence why I decided to leave

o2 have offered me nothing to stay with them , unlike last year was really keen to keep me

That was the same as me - offered me no discounts on any of the smart phones. Basically told me the internet deals was the best I would get - decided to leave bearing in mind this handset will be £30 per month minimum on O2

O2 were rubbish on retentions. I just moved to T-Mobile for this phone 300mins, 300txts unllimited internet (3gb) and unlimited landline calls for £25/mth x 18 months.

O2 I was on simplicity and when I said I wanted to move onto a contract for a new phone they made no effort to come in even close to matching the above,

I'm just out of my iPhone contract with 02, thank God - they were rubbish. Hardly worth having internet access as it didn't work half the time.
I want a Desire but in black, so looking for the best deal. As long as it's not 02 or use the crappy 02 network I'm happy.
If Voda have this fair usage policy, what happens if you go above 500Mb? Is there a way of monitoring how much you're using?
I don't use Twitter but if I have to sign up to get a better deal I would, how to do you contact them?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

You have to sign up to twitter and send a message to a vodafone account andf they are meant to get back to you - but they don't it seems - well they didn't get back to me after two messages. There is a thread on here that explains it - good luck - if it doesn't work out this deal is only £1.43 above that!
