I have been after a cheap deal for the Desire HD for the daughters Crimbo and was offered this deal by retentions. £150 up front and then £15 a month makes £510 all in. I think that's the cheapest I have seen.

It is for 200mins, unlimited texts, 500mb of internet and one magic number a month ( whatever they are! ) for a 24 month contract.

I use an Iphone 4 so please don't start a HTC v Apple fan boy session!

This is my first post so don't kill me : )

My current orange contract is due for renewal. I had seen this for £15 per month and £229 up front on another site.So rang Orange, the sales person said they couldn't match it so they put me through to retentions who offered me the above deal.

roi3erto, did you call Orange for that deal and what tariff were you on?
I'm due an upgrade in the next few days and might try and squeeze them for a similar deal.

I went through retentions, in fairness though I was band 5, which is the highest band, they take an average of your last 6 months spend, so if your spending on average £40+ your normally band 5 for which they have more flexibility in retaining customers.

Fair comment, I was only spending £12 per month before I signed up for this deal!

Another way, if you can afford it is to buy the phone outright and then go on Tesco Sim only for £10 a month, and they use O2 which has much better 3G coverage and speed, Orange can be very poor at times.

I'm currently on a band 5 so would be happy to pay a bit less especially to get an HTC HD also. Thanks for your advice.

I have just got this phone on T-mob.18 months £25 per month, 300 mins, unlim texts and web. was £205 for phone but quidco gave i think £80 or £75 cashback so that takes that down to £130 for the phone,

(had some old phones which ive flogged so i made up the £130. Good deal for me, i like tmob because i get signal everywhere i go (i know you can use orange masts but only for 2g i think certainly no 3g) and other networks ive had issues with signal and other things.

Im not voting eitherway on this because it would appear you can only get it if your already a customer. So not available for everyone. *sorry didnt read the earlier posts correctly so DONT have to be high payer.

My way works out at £655 without quidco or £580 with quidco.

Sorry i wasnt knocking your deal at all. im just saying you have to already have had a contract with orange to get the deal though. So i wouldnt be able to get it. CRACKING deal if you can get it. The phone is brilliant and i have no idea what people are going on about with the battery, i sat and messed around with it all day yesterday watching vids on youtube etc and the battery lasted fine, didnt ahve to charge it but did anyway as i do every night, lasts just as long as my old g1 mobile did.

With the battery, if you turn off USB debugging in settings, it normally doubles it! Massive Difference.
