Let me state the obvious so nobody feels the need to do it themselves:
1. This is a cashback by redemption deal. I’ve never done one personally myself and hear lots of mixed opinions on them. Surely, with a phone this smart though, it won’t be hard to set calendar reminders??
2. The data allowance is only 500MB. I say only as I’m led to believe that an average-to-heavy user these days may require more than that.
3. The battery is reported to last about 24hrs. I’ve heard you can stretch this with being smart and tinkering with some settings. Obviously, it will come down to your usage though.
4. If you’re after a new phone and are fond of pretty looking jigsaw puzzles, stop reading now and look into iPhones. However, if you prefer your toys to be more like Lego whereby there aren’t any limitations... read on ...

Via Dial-a-Phone:
Orange
18 months
300 minutes
Unlimited SMS texts
500MB data allowance
Unlimited UK e-mail

Standard price: £30.64 per month (£551.52 whole term cost)
After redemptions (£91.92): ~£25.53 per month (£459.60 whole term cost)
After Quidco/TCB (£65):~£21.92 per month (£394.60 whole term cost)

* There is a further £20 up for grabs in referring a friend if you can swing it

Redemption details:
Your £91.92 saving is available by redemption in 5 stages: £18.00 at month 6, £18.00 at month 9, £18.00 at month 12, £18.00 at month 15, £19.92 at month 18

I may be wrong here but after having a brief look at this, I think the RAF £20 comes after you have opened an account with them.

hot
even without the cash back good deal for a 18month i got a 24 month back in October with this mobile while i do get 500 min i don't use them all and tbh this prob would have done me better iam paying £25 PM but i do get more internet usage

It's a bit hit and miss. The first time I did it I got both, then on other orders the RAF got cancelled before they paid it out.

phone is free on Virgin, and for the £20 per month tariff, u get unlimited texts and internet and 200 minutes + free virgin to virgin minutes

Thank-you, Baron Domo.

I wasn’t going to like it but I was fully prepared to take the plunge on a 24-monther in order to get this phone at a sensible price. Then I found this deal; it’s getting delivered tomorrow. Very excited :D

Thanks for your input, alanino64. I’ve done my homework though; my brother can get me 25% discount on their tariffs but even with that, this Dial-a-Phone deal was the best I could find.

The phone you may have seen is a different model. I believe you have seen the HTC Wildfire.

alanino64 - where did you see this deal? It would get extremely hot if it was an 18 month.

Its nowhere. Just phoned virgin. Cheapest they do on desire hd is £35+ per month. Crap customer service.

This is HOT, its 18 months and for under £25 a month and desire hd deal must be hot.

Also had call from phones 4 u aswell and they offering me a similar but it would be automatic cashback. Stuck. Dont know who to go with.

Boy, I don’t understand the voting on this website sometimes.

I understand people hold some trepidation against redemption deals but this deal went scorching and, realistically, has more at risk via redemption.

Hitting the negative figures has made me ponder my purchase of this deal. But then, considering the phone is retailing at around £400 SIM free – I’m thinking the phone and 18 months of service for that price is a good deal. No?

Yeah - the Virgin £20.43pm deal (for exisiting customers only) is the Desire, not the Desire HD

This is 100% pure nonsense.
Clearly you got your phones mixed up.

Personally, I think this is a good deal. I hate contracts longer than 12 months, but still, this is hot.

Hot deal. Have ordered. If quidco tracks and full redemption it will cost a total of £394.60 over 18 months!

It is a great deal............im just a bit cautious because of the reception problems I had with orange before (NI)

I am as confused as you :|

Maybe I am just unlucky?

I’ve had the paperwork through. The redemptions are indeed in 5 stages. During each stage, you have a two month window in which to get the paperwork to them.

A second-class stamp costs 32p. To send it recorded (for peace of mind) costs £1.06. Therefore, for £3.70, you should be able to guarantee the redemption cashbacks.

I really want this to be recognised as hot. Please tell me why you think it is cold if you feel that way.

I want others to benefit from this fantastic deal, as well as getting a hat-trick of hot deals (_;)

again agree with all of you here this should be way hotttter especially since the 24 month deals goes over 500 degrees

I spent 2 hrs last night looking to better this deal - no joy.

Think I might take the plunge....

Voted hot... now waiting for my PAC code before I get my hands on one of these babies... =)

I have no problems with doing redemptions... always use recorded signed for for my CPW redemptions and never failed to get my cheques. Shame they dont do great retention deals anymore hence the switch...

You might aswell order online. once phone comes you can tell em pac code and they should change to your normal number. It says about PORTING on their website.

Thanks! I just read up on their website and you're right... Will do that.

Anyone knows if this phone (or any phones by DialAPhone) is locked to the network? Or do they come unlocked? Planning to get a Desire White as well for my sis...

Been looking at this deal since it appeared in the other Desire HD thread. I think it's a great deal, dont know why its cold.

Just gone for it now :)

BTW my tariff says, "400 Anytime Xnet Mins". I defo chose the 300 min deal. Does anyone who's ordered see this? Be an even better deal if true :D

Same here mate. Dont worry about it. When i got to last screen and saw 400 mins I thought I got wrong contract aswell. Its just a error. If its 400 then cool if not then its still cool.
#32
Good to see others going for the deal too. Finally out of the negatives too!

A lot of links and e-mails I had mentioned 400 minutes too. Then the phone came and the paperwork continued to state 400 minutes, even the paperwork that has an Orange logo and looks like it’s been pulled from their system!

All connected up now though and checked my allowance via 150 and the automated message says 300 minutes :(

That’s what I signed up for though and absolutely loving the phone so still very happy :3

There may be a case there for phoning Orange and querying this in the hope of getting jumped up to 400 minutes but I, for one, am not too fussed.

I can confirm for others that the box, phone or software doesn't show any sign of branding. I am yet to try another SIM though.

How did you manage to port your number so quickly? Did you ring 980 from your handset? Does that cost, do you know?

As for Quidco, I'm afraid I cannot help. I used TopCashBack which has tracked for me.
