HTC Desire HD, 250 mins, 5000 texts, 500mb data. £44.99 phone, £7.50 pm / 24mths Talkmobile @ e2save £224.99

dean_brfcdean_brfc

This seems to be the same £7.50 Talkmobile deal that's knocking around for a lot of phones at the moment, except for £44.99 you get a much better phone than is offered in the free deals.

£30 Quidco/Topcashback as well, so total cost £194.99, or £8.12 per month over the duration of the contract.

Edit: Forgot, it says "refurbished", but these will be brand new phones that were returned unused within 7 days, not phones that were broken and have been fixed. Same 12 month guarantee.

how easy is it to cancel the expensive insurance & help add-ons?
      dean_brfc
I had some with my Dialaphone contract. I cancelled the help using an online form and cancelled the insurance with a quick phone call.

I can't imagine it's any more difficult than a couple of phone calls

If nothing has changed since I got my contract through E2Save 18 months ago, then it's very easy to cancel the insurance.

Got one recently. Instead of the 0845 number you pay for try 0800 0493049 who should be able to cancel both, but I did have to wait a week to cancel the gadget insurance as they couldn't find me on their system until then. You just need your address, not some reference number which never arrives.

On my second phone from them.
B.t.w, my second phone was a refurb. The only thing was it didn't have the orange add on features like signal boost but then I don't use them anyway. Other than that perfect

Other advantage of this phone, ice cream sandwich is on its way, the wildfire isn't getting it (or wasn't last report I saw). The wildfire is also a s*** phone while this should be a decent one.

You can recycle the phone for £106 making the contract only £88.99/£3.71 per month - bargain!
      chaywa
Or sell it to CEX (A Condition unlocked) making the contract only £2.12 per month - bargain!

You'd still be slightly better off with the CPW one with a wildfire s if you want to just recycle the phone as you can get £63 recycle
so contract only £87/£3.62 per month

      Edit....
Ok dealing with CEX wins it

i emailed them to cancel and told them to email me to confirm it was cancelled. I received a reply within 2-3days. And just as a sidenote. I have had this phone for 12 months, its great however, the battery life is appalling.

would you suggest buying a separate battery & carrying it around it's that bad? - or a larger capacity one instead as per some EVO owners have done?

Mint condition is worth £144 @cex, but I guess this unit would have minor scratches or missing manuals etc?

I usually always buy refurbs, it should come in new condition with all accessories and manuals. Companies won't accept returns if they are used.

HTC Desire HD is a shocking phone that breaks luckily within warranty byt no use when expires. Talkmobile are a shoccking network with a lack of signal as well. Good price poor phone and even poorer network

No point in buying this contract just to sell the blower, get the tocco deal and even if you bin it your down to 67p per month (equivelent)

I have had this phone for year and a half. Absolutely superb. In 17 years of contract phones, it is the first phone I've had that I've not been counting the days till I can cancel contract and get new handset. I have a couple of cheap Ebay spare batteries that work just as well as the original. They were around £3 each.

Fairly decent phone, looking forward to my new one in November. More than worth the price though

Yeah, i bought an external charger with 2 extra batteries, for about 7-8 pounds off ebay. And that gets me through 2-3 days. I can't fault it apart fromt his.

@ Wheresmylaptop : Are you on stock GB ROM or running a custom ROM?

A friend has asked me to update his DHD but not sure which rom to put on it. If battery life is really that bad, I'm tempted to go with a beefed up stock rom like Revo HD or Runny Xtreme. If battery life is not so bad then I'll put an ICS rom on it. Personally I like the look of the IceColdSandwich roms but as he was thinking of getting a iPhone, I might just put MIUI.us on it. Have any of you guys tried any of these and if so, which would you recommend?
