HTC Desire HD Orange Upgrade! £20.00 pm 24m contract

I had 3 months left on my contract so called up Orange with the usual "I want to leave for a better deal" lines to try and get something good out of them. And here's what they offered, I thought it was pretty good and didn't need to think twice about accepting it.

Free HTC Desire HD
2000 Minutes (apparently existing customers get double mins)
Unlimited Text
500MB Data bundle

All for £20 a month on a 24 month contract.

Fantastic! I'm in the same boat! I already have an £8.51 "loyalty discount" from the last time I renewed, I'm pretty sure they're supposed to carry over.

Btw, were you actually at the upgrade period? Mine is officially on Sunday but I'm wondering whether I can ring them up this week so I can get my new phone sooner.

will get voted cold as usual coz some chumps will come around and say "this is customer specific only", but hot in my opinion.

Did you pay more for the phone?

How much was your old contract and did you used to pay more than the contract cost?

Yes and I am one of those "chumps"
Anyone with half a brain can negotiate a deal on a new contract.

apparently the discount is calculated each time you renew based on the "points" you've accumulated since the last personalised upgrade,

Orange have two systems, they either give you a deal like they have with tsmith109 in this thread and that is based on the "points" you've accumulated since the last upgrade

or if you just upgrade/renew to a standard tariff then they'll give you 10% for each time you do that subject to a maximum of something like 30% (i forget the exact amount)

never mind the specific deal ..what is the phone itself like ??

well overdue an upgrade myself ..thinking this or the blackberry torch both free for about £25 / month

What tariff were you on before they offered you this deal cos thats an amazing offer. Im due for an upgrade and they will only give me 10%off

They'll probably give you this early as it mentioned on another thread on here they just stick the balance of your existing contract onto your new one giving you a new 27 month contract. Ouch.

good phone but i prefer the orginal desire, its just got a better feel to it overall, granted the screen on this is bigger but its not HD as iphone is much better screen and so are a few Samsungs I think, the original Desire screen isn't small either,

I just wished they'd left the buttons on the desire HD as actual push buttons rather than the touch buttons, i find that feature of it so annoying

wow this beats all the network deals, the HTC desire HD is a great smart phone, hot really tempted

Can you find out how long you've got left on your contract by logging into your account online because I can't seem to find it?
#16
This is not actually a deal everyone can get even though its a good price.

I called yesterday, see has less than 1 mth left, said give me a deal or i'll leave, operator immediatley said your PAC code will arrive in 2-3 days, and must be actioned within 30 days !!!

Very operator dependant, though I called a month ago and got pretty crap deals for £30+ tariffs.

This happened to me once before. they generally have a number to call, which will be stated in the letter that comes through. You call them and they pretty much give you an awesome deal to keep you..

Can anyone tell me how useful 500MB is ? Can you download stuff and use your phone for home shopping-- if not, then what's the point ?
#20
I have both, I have the Torch from work and HTD HD for personal. They are both good but the HTC has to win, go into a shop and use it and you'll fall in love!
