It'll be because there are new dual core HTC phones coming out soon for £500 - 600 (guessing at the price).

#5
Duel core ones are supported to be launch in the us around may,,, we prob wont see them untill the end of the year.

Good price for a good phone, not sure why this is cold
#6
They can be unlocked using a code from ebay which is about 7 or 8 quid..
#7

Not a huge leap from Desire to Desire S so this deal looks very good. I'm tempted at this price, have some heat OP.

Go instore, all their HTC Desire phones are unlocked. I asked in my local store last week

The Desire is still a great phone and i prefer it to the Desire HD as it's more pocketable and has the benefit of proper buttons and an optical trackball rather than the capacitive buttons which seem to be the rage now. As mentioned above, the soon to be released Desire S does not add much other than a newer processor (still 1ghz though) and maybe 2.3. I believe the Desire will get 2.3 though at some stage as it's certainly capable of running it.
#11
Good price shame I'm stuck with my 2 year contact now!
#12
Is this in store only? Can't see it online.

Good price if true...heat added

iPhone 5 will probably be dual core (probs dual core 750MHz instead of 1GHz dual core). But considering android >>>>>>>> iPhone OS, hot from me.
#14
instore only, i got one for 250 on 02 last week.

i found an old PAYAG o2 sim card @ home, reactivated it, as it wasnt working, waited 24hrs then took it to phones for you to get the discounted price of 250. The chap at the store just put my old number in the computer for a check. Thats all!

Sim free Desire unlocked for any network, 250 quid = bargain

Popped my giffgaff sim card in, payag mins + texts + unlimited data, 10 quid a month! Well happy

If you have a orange PAYAG its cheaper @ 240 quid all other PAYAG's 250, full price without a PAYAG sim, 300

Has any one been instore to confirm this offer is still available, I know it was last week but so was there online price, There online price has increased this week so we need confirmation please.

Does this still suffer from the worst battery life ever?

Hour of screen use and it's dead as a dodo.

Yep, battery life is still near enough unacceptable, but that's the story with most smartphones.

Agreed, but it good power management, you can get it to last almost 24 hours...

I use APNDROID on the android phones, really helps battery life, good free app.

The HTC Desire is a very good phone. It almost tempted me away from my iPhone for the few months I owned it and the iPhone together. The latter phone has a more polished UI and for everyday use it's far superior.

That said, this is a great price for a great phone. Pity about the shop selling it, but hey, we can't have it our own way!

Voting cold because you care about pretend numbers on the internet.

Depends on how you use it, out of the box the phone will constantly sync with your fb updates, email etc. if you turn sync down to every say 4-8 hours and turn on wi-fi/3g when you need it. I've managed to get over 2 days out of my Desire HD using this which has a much bigger higher powered screen

Either way this phone is great, spec wise it isn't really much different to the iphone 4 bar the software

I called up the bayswater branch in london and they have it for the higher price.

I bough this phone from Phones4U last week for £250 using an orange PAYG sim

It is unlocked
There is no Orange Bloatware/software branding. It's completely unbranded
There is no physical branding. It's completely unbranded

As i mentioned earlier, I bought this phone for £249.99 on Feb 16th. I understand that on Feb 18 Phones4U reduced the price from £249.99 to £229.99 if you upgrade using an orange PAYG sim.

Does anyone know if they will refund me the £30 extra that i paid considering i only bough it two days before the price dropped.

Not to mention you can get Gingerbread 'unofficially' including many other brilliant ROMs from XDA. (Better than the official ones imo, especially with battery etc) There's hundreds catering to what different people need.

My SF has excellent battery life, using a de-oranged ROM from Modaco (well, it HAD excellent battery life until I switched to Android 2.3).

I'm almost tempted to upgrade from my SF to this, but have my heart set on the LG Optimus 3D (at least I have some time to save up for it...).

I don't get the battery life issue,I easily get through the day with everything syncing and 3g on that was on stock rom.Now I'm on a custom rom with setcpu lowering the speed of the processor when the screens off the battery has improved even more.

The screen is one of the biggest battery suckers if you set it too lowest brightness setting it helps loads(or at least the lowest so you can still see it)

Tbh I hadn't used the phone much when I took this screenshot but it still displays how far the battery can go.

For those moaning about battery life, there are several things you can do to increase this.

At a basic level, turn off wi-fi and GPS when they are not being used. Install Juice Defender.

A bit more advanced, buy Tasker and use it to manage your settings as you need them. My phone automatically turns wi-fi/GPS on when a relevant app is opened, and turns it off when I exit the app. There is loads you can do with Tasker to improve your battery life.

If you aren't scared of root, get the latest MIUI ROM. People are reporting 48 hours of heavy use with this ROM.

Excellent phone, easily superior to the iPhone 3gs.. haven't had an iPhone 4 to compare it with though.

Battery generally lasts around 2 days for me, I switch wifi and mobile internet off unless using them and keep the screen on low power when indoors.

I'd like an upgrade (love my technology) but despite the Desire HD being superior.. it doesn't really have enough extra to warrant the upgrade.

Easily worth this price (as far as phones go anyway)

Good price!

I love my desire!

Expect to see more good deals as the new HTC range is pushed out!

I don't get it either. I guess we'll just have to put it down to folk who aren't savvy enough to work out how to set their handsets up correctly ;)

Turn off 3g mobile data when you're not using it and you'll see a big battery life increase. The radios in these devices are as bad as the screens!

THE GOODYBAGS ARE UNAFFECTED.

Who uses credit on GiffGaff anyway? Everyone I know buys a Goodybag, with the best value imo being the £10.00 Goodbag which includes 250 minutes, unlimited texts and unlimited internet.
