Orange direct now have the HTC Desire in-stock.

They were more than happy to give me a few reductions to compete with my current plan from Vodafone.

Just thought I would let people know. As there may be people holding back from T-mobile due to their poor coverage outside of cities.

This may not be for everyone, but I have friends who have to rely on Orange for a signal.

I just spoke to Orange and the offered me at first
Free phone £35 a month, 24 months, 900 mins, unlimited text, unlimited data
Or
£50 phone, £27.50 a month, 24 months, 400 mins, unlimited text, unlimited data

But after asking nicely he dropped it to £22.50 a month, which is a nice enough deal for me.

Unfortunatly my luck with mobile companies continues and I got a credit referall, (T-Mobile did the same) so will get a call back tomorrow to see what happens.

If you ordered from the net you could get up to £80 on Quidco as well. I'm getting interested in these deals as I fancy the new phone - just trying to work out what'll work out cheapest overall.

When one of you guys get hold of the Desire on Orange - can you let us know what the branding is like. Is there branding on the handset? How has Orange dealt with the OS, is there plenty of Orange centric tweaks? Any other pros and cons of the Orange offering would be great.

I'm due an Orange upgrade but they don't seem to have much of a clue as to what they can offer on the Desire.

Their line today (Weds 14th) is they're out of stock until next week and all they can offer for existing customers is £50 off the upfront cost - which is £150 on a £25 tariff (before online discounts).

According to the (disinterested in the extreme) rep I spoke to - there are NO tariffs without an upfront cost (which I find hard to believe). As long as it's popular/new - discounts will be feeble I suspect - I get to call cancellations next week (contract ends) - they may do more I guess but I'll need other offers by then so it's shopping time.

Once upon a time you paid a little extra with Orange for better coverage and better CS but that seems to have gone now so I think it's time I headed off to networks new...
