First off this is not a customer survey about three.co.uk. if you dont like them dont use them. Personally, I have never had any issues with them.

Rang 3 about HTC Desire on Sunday, nice lady said it had just been put onto website and she would call me back on Monday to confirm details. Told her I wanted the Desire otherwise I would be cancelling my contract.

Called me back today, and offered the following:

500 any network minutes
100 texts
2000 landline minutes
Unlimited Internet (fair usage 1GB)

Went for a 12 month contract at £22 month plus £95 for phone = £359
Was also offer 18 month contract at £22 month plus £45 for phone = £441

Phone is being delivered on 20th April.

Notes:

I am an existing 3 customer and it was cancellation department that called me. Apparently I also get a £8 loyalty discount per month included.

Have looked around for quite a while, and if you can get the same or a similar deal seems very good value for money.

So really then the deal is a £30 a month contract and £95 for the phone? Working out to £455 unless of course you are with 3 already and planning to cancel. Still not a bad deal considering the price of the phone on it's own, sadly though I'm more a texter than a speaker.

Not really voting either way on this as seen others that look a better deal for me.

Quite happy to post copy of the invoice when I receive it.

All I can go on is my own experience, my previous contract was a Nokia N95 8GB, and I was billed exactly what they stated.

Guess some people have had bad experiences on three.

I take it this deal is not avaliable for non 3 customers as there is nothing close to it on their website

Brother-in-law took a phone out with Three. He's a joiner and due to the terrible signal where he lives he could not receive incoming calls and therefore missed out on a lot of business. He rang in to make several complaints but got no help whatsoever. No reduction in monthly cost, no reduction in contract length, nothing.
He had to get another SIM and pay to keep two phones going.

Heat added. This is just what I was looking for - my contract is up middle of next month.

My experience: Three have been as good as any other network, with the possible exception of Virgin, who have good customer support. They are all shysters: I've had problems with T-mobile, Orange, O2, Virgin (who sorted it out quickly and in a friendly way) and Three (who sorted it all out fairly quickly). Managed to avoid Vodafone so far... ;-)

surely thats his own fault ? should have checked befor going to 3 or if he got it online return within 7 days.. cant blame 3 as im sure all other operators would be the same.

Try search or google, there's loads of comparisons!

Sorry to hear some other people having some sucky experiences with Three. I have been billed almost entirely correctly - except for some misapplied bolt ons - some removed without warning or permission, some that have failed to activate. 2 lots of £20 reimbursements and my tarrif was changed to a better one 3 months before my contract was due to expire, but it's the customer service that lets it down.

Saying that, getting this phone for these prices is still better than T Mob. It just might come back to haunt you and it's why i'm a bit dubious.

So he moved into an area where the 3 signal was bad... how was that 3's fault!?
I've been with 3 since 2004, never had a problem and I get a nice loyalty discount (better than anything I got at Orange).
500anytime/anynetwork minutes
100 texts.
£10 a month.

The indian call centres can be hard work at renewal time but usually it's ok.

I think all mobile providers are the same, some people have good experiences, others don't.

I found the actual network on Three to be ok and used get Indian call centre which i found very hard work tbh so cancelled contract due to be worst offer than site gave new customers lol.
Now i just have a Mobile dongle contract with them due too it being a good deal but the last time i called i had a scottish call centre so hopefully they'll get more rather than overseas staff :)

As for the deal its nothing like that on Three site and i tried talking to them through the chat system i pointed out that im a contract customer on the mobile broadband and asked about if they'd match deals that Orange and T-mobile had and was told that they couldn't move on the price advertised ...So im voting cold :whistling:

hence the reason its a mobile device and coverage is not guaranteed in a particular place but it is the population coverage which is guaranteed.

shoulda checked signal where he was moving before he moved there :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

He moved less than a mile away, absolutely no reason why there should have been any difference in signal strength.

Erm, yeah cos whether there is a decent signal for a particular mobile phone provider is really gonna be at the top of his list as to whether he moves there or not

When ever I've spoken in store they've never been able to offer any loyalty bonus.

You cant Renewal is only through calling customer services.

I'm another happy 3 customer. sadly i've called upgrades 3 times and the best they can offer me is:
£20: 750 mins: 150 Texts: Unld Internet: £115 for the handset: 18 month contract

or

£35: 750 mins: unld Texts: unld Internet: free handset: 24 month contract

I dont really want to cancel as i often work in locations where 3 (and orange) are the only phones with signal.

How can i get the same contract as you?

(supposedly i have a £15 loyalty discount)

You are taking the **** right?

You're friend is a total idiot if he thinks 3 owes him anything at all.

I so like reading these threads

My sister-in-law got a three phone and couldn't get a signal unless she was at the window of her front room and even then it was weak. She didn't do anything but complain to me about it two months after taking out the contract.

on the website it states that you can return it within 14 days PROVIDING you return everything they sent you in the original box in 'as new' condition. 'As new' means that you have not used any of threes services (not sure what they would define as a service) or loaded any of your personal data onto the phone and taken any pictures (not sure wether you could get away with clearing any info and doing a factory reset).

I personally am a happy 3 customer and yes they did muck up my billing (was supposed to be on half price for the whole contract). However Three corrected it after a (admitedly difficult to understand) phone call. In fact they credited by account with the total diffrence in one lump sum, all I had to do was tell them when I took the contract out. Im still on my originall contract as they offered me the half price as a loyalty bonus and last year I got a SE w995 on the same contract (£15p/m 1000txt 300xnet/mins 50MMS 50Video mins £5 downloads)
I'm gonna stick the unlimited internet on next month putting it up to £20p/m

I also laugh when I hear about bad signal cos where I live and go (apart from the sis-in-law) I normally get a better signal than anyone else!

Just an update. Received my phone a couple of weeks ago, HTC Desire is a fantastic phone, far and away best i've ever owned.

Garbage456 et al - I received my paperwork from three.co.uk, and it confirms what I posted earlier.

i.e. 12 month contract - £30 a month with a loyalty discount of £8 per month = Net £22 per month. Phone was £95, so total 12 month cost of £359.

Just thought i'd stick up for three.co.uk, so many people seem to have bad things to say, but i've never had a problem with them.
