Seems like good deal, anyone got phone through Dial a phone, are they any good. Also how does their redemption cashback work anyone know.

i used dialaphone aaages ago when i took out a samsung d600 on contract, i do remember them being quite good. might consider this deal now o2 have delayed releasing the desire on their network. theres only so long i can wait!

I had a C903 through dialaphone in January. they ended up sending me 3 faulty phones and it took 3 months to get a refund.

The constantly quote the T&C's and try and hide behind them, so becareful and make sure you read them fully before.
#4
the "by redemption " puts me off a little, but decent enough nevertheless.

I have read few reviews about Dial a Phone not great feedback, I wouldn't want to get phone from them after reading the reviews they seem really dodgy company.

Here is the link:

I have the HTC HD2 and after playing with this Desire, I want one. It is so fast, and the apps, and the multiple desktops you can make and switch between, fantastic. It's Marketplace puts Microsoft's version to shame. Never mind only 20 months to go until my current contract ends.

I ordered a Nokia phone from dialaphone last May, within a week the screen died, they promptly swapped the handset (had to send it back, but postage was refunded, turnaround less than a week).

Then after 8 months the Micro SDHC card stopped working, contacted DAP and they advised me to contact Nokia (most online sellers do that after a month). Nokia told me memory cards only have a 30 day warranty, so contacted DAP and they posted one out.

--> I have good experiences with them, had far worse customer service from orange

great phone great deal trouble this company is a joke, just look at there reviews some may have had great deals or good experiances with them but unfortunatly im not one.

i would rather trust a Mc donalds worker to erect wembly stadium than these rude ignorant badly run ill informed company, ps thay still do the creit check on you and if you dont get the phone or run out of stock or cancel the orer they put it down to failing the credit check.

avoid like the plauge dont touch with a bardge pole doe give you some idea of how ba this company are?

as with all my posts this is just my opinion take it or leave it as you will and make your own min up

If only there was a few more minutes on there, 300 isnt really enough
#10
This is a smoking hot deal if the cashbacks come off.

I've bought phones from DAP in the past and they've always been good, in my opinion...

However I've noticed on DAP that they do not offer number porting if you're taking out a Vodafone contract... anyone knows if you still go ahead to get the contract, is it possible to contact Vodafone directly to port the number AFTERWARDS??
#12
hot, think im going for it thanks!
is it the graphite (black) version?
oh wait :
We currently only support number porting when transferring to T-mobile, Orange, Three, O2 and BT Mobile, but not Vodafone.
damn

I've gone for it! Seems a great deal as three were never gonna give me a 12 month contract on this phone and i can't bear going for a longer contract than that - Never used dialaphone before due to the nightmare stories bandied about but gave them a ring to ask a few questions and they seem fair enough (and they were from England so I could understand them much more easily than I can with 3's customer service). All the redemption stuff is in the pack apparently so hopefully it goes smoothly. Just remember you may want to cancel the 1 month free insurance and the 1 month free technical support before the first month is up otherwise you end up paying more. Also noticed when logging into my account £1.50 for itemised billing is part of my tariff which i don't want and hope I can remove. If the cashback and quidco go as hoped then I think this is a top notch deal if your reluctant to tie in for 18 months or more. Heat added.

p.s. It looks like the earliest you can get this delivered (as you pick a date) is about 10/5/10 (well it was for me anyway) so unfortunately it doesn't look like the next day delivery is on this phone......boooooo

Great phone, great deal.

AMAZING deal if this works - It almost seems too good which is worrying me - £360 over the course of the contract (ie 9months at £40) for a htc desire?? All others I have looked at are in the region of £700-£900. Also is it cashback as the site just says first 3 month free?
#16
Wow this is a hot deal assuming all the cashback works. Might be tempted to get this if I hadn't already signed up to a contract.
#17
a few drawbacks i guess:
cant port number to network
not in stock until the 11th on delivery screen
but cheap none the less
#18
Amazingly hot from me!

Got a 5800 from dial-a-phone last year on 12 month contract:
- Quidco tracked and paid in good time
- Cashback cheques arrived within one week of me even sending the claim each time (3 times)

Have now upgraded to a HTC Desire which is a stunning phone.

Can't see a single thing wrong with this deal.
#19
The only thing stopping me from getting this deal is that DAP doesn't offer number porting to Vodafone...

I wonder if calling Vodafone directly after getting the contract, would they be able to port your number?

Now. This or an iPhone 3GS?

I've owned both and I'd choose this.

Anyone know when to expect this on O2? Mu contracts up on May 7th and don't know if I should wait to get this phone or get the iPhone 3G S.

Potentially a great deal, but it depends on how many hoops you have to jump through to get your cashback.

Got my Desire with an earlier deal from Orange, and it's a fantastic phone.
#25
My quidco has tracked within a couple of hours! Hurrah - I just wish they would email and suprise me by saying its coming tomorrow instead of the 11th May. Not much chance of that i guess

There are 100's of handsets on back order for the people who took advantage of the Twitter Exclusive deals (for whihc i was called a liar!:whistling:) so expect that date to slip.

Very very LOW stock levels at the moment unfortunately. Still awaiting mine, ordered 3 weeks ago via twitter.

Thanks for the heads up - Hopefully that won't be the case though otherwise i'd be thinking about cancelling. Perhaps Dial a phone haven't sold as much of their stock as Vodafone have themselves so may find that the delivery date is correct - Fingers crossed anyway

Desire has now been rooted for those that know what that means :) If you've not heard of it, don't worry, it's a very good thing!

I have used DAP for the last 6 years as they seem to be one of only a few places around that you can get 12 month contracts. I have never had a problem with them and they also give you loads of time to send in a copy of your bill ( about a 2 month window). So send it in as soon as you can and if you don't get your cheque through in a couple of weeks send another copy but as i said I have always been sent my cheque no problems, it only costs you the price of a stamp. And they accept photocopies not like some places.

I ordered the HTC mini on the £40 month with 300 mins, unlimited texts and unlimited internet access. With cashback it works out something like £24 month. It told me I wouldn't get delivery until 5th May but vodafone phoned me up today to confirm a few details and will have the phone with me tomorrow.

My last contract with DAP was for a Nokia 5800 on 12 months, 300 mins & 300 texts and after cashback worked out at £20 month plus I can sell my 5800 to envirofone for £80 now I don't need it.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info fegan2401

I think im going to go for this deal, but i have a question..

If the phone takes a while to be delivered, does the contract start on delivery, or when i set up the contract?

Thanks
#32
anyone know if vodafone have made custom changes to the firmware??? those crappy red themes normally kills the phones performance and restricts full access... does dialaphon just provide the standard phone, and a sim with whichever deal you take out!!!!

Have put off getting the Desire until now!

Only thing stopping me is the lack of porting my old number through DAP, does anybody know if chuichi's method is do-able?!

EDIT: Have emailed Vodafone, will post back if I get a reply.

same I would like to know this too. this is a smoking hot deal, cheaper than any other contract atm. i believe it is even cheaper than vodafone twitter deal
#35
I'm pay as you go with Vodafone, will I be able to keep my number and move accross to a contract with vodafone with this deal ?
#36
I asked today when vodafone called me if I could get my number ported across but they said it was not possible. Personally I would of liked it but it's too good a deal to pass up just because of that.

I would think the contract starts when your phone is delivered but don't quote me on that. Email DAP and ask. They usually respond. As I said I have never had a problem with them but thats only my experience.
#37
I wonder if they actually have stock seeing as none of the networks have any in at the moment
#38
Im getting this phone free as an upgrade from Vodafone retentions.

600mins, UL txt, UL internet - £30 a month.

Yes it will be an 18 month contract and yes i wont get the Quidco, but just want others to be aware there is potentially better deals to be had :)

Shame the unlimited internet is a seemingly small 500mb. How have people with smartphones found this kind of limit in the past, will I easily go over?
#40
Voda don't port number unless (I believe) you do it via their website and ONLY when you first order.
I have a 12 month contract gathering dust as the wife didnt want to change her number. Went spare with Vod but they did bu@@er all and I spent hours on the phone.
Don't risk it, but if you dont need to port its smokin'
