Got a fantastic deal of Vodafone today for the HTC desire.

HTC desire on Vodafone
18 months
600 mins
Ultd txts
Ultd internet (FUP 500mb)

It was £20 for the first 15 months then £30 for the last 3 months, no cashback! If you go for a 24 month contract its £15 for the first 21 months.

All together works out at £21.67/month or £16.88/month with the 24 months option. There are deals for more/less mins if you need but i didnt ask about them.

Whats the catch? You need a twitter account to get the deal but they are free to set up then just send them a tweet, VodaphoneUKdeals, and an email details of which are on their Twitter account. Wait back and wait for a call but be patient as they have a large calling list and only 6 people in the team. Also they don't have them in stock at the moment but said as soon as they are they will complete the order and send it.

Also assured that if you go over the 500mb they will not charge you unless you do this reguarly then in hich case they will send you a warning letter first.

Hope that helps some people.

Did you go through the twitter to do it? The normal sales team won't do this deal for you, also it is directly through Vodafone as the email you send is via their website.

Maybe they didn't tell you as they wanted you to sign up via their team.

Does anyone want to check?

(Right, back to work...!)

Matt, Ben, Ian & Kay, my mistake its only four!!

If you want to take the mick maybe you should get your facts straight.

As I said you cant phone them and have to wait for them to conatct you. There's pages of people who have done this deal on another forum just thought i'd share the deal here but maybe a shouldn't have bothered.

Not exactly sure as I dont have an account and someone did it for me. From what i saw you put @vodafoneukdeals and write a message that you want them to call you. They then tell you to email them.

In the OP a did mention they were out of stock but they're sorting out the contract details then sending them out when they get the stock in so offer is still available, please unexpire!!

iPhone?
pretty sure if you're an HTC fan then by default you're allergic to Apple!

only catch on the Desire though is the bluetooth...seems to malfunction in many phones...

Absolutely.... over priced, under spec'd, limitations left right and centre. The apple mobile experience of the future eh?

No Thanks, HTC FTW!

How much do you want for the gourd?

Does it work out cheaper if you go via their website using Quidco (currently £150 for paym deals)?
*Provided Quidco tracks, ofcourse!

As loathe as I am to even sound like I'm recommending T-Mobile, their FUP is 3Gb per month.

I blew through 700Mb in the first week of owning a Desire (although to be fair, a lot of that was playing around with various apps)

They all have a fair useage policy, but the point i was making is its easy to use 500mb in a month. T-mobile has a 3GB limit which in my mind should be the very least offered.
#23
Not sure if this is still the case now, but last year my friend couldn't even get Youtube on his blackberry bold on vodaphone.

£30 for 24 months = 720 - 150 (quidco) = 570. Forget it.

Good point. 500mb on a phone like this is peanuts if you use the net 'seriously'.

Is this the best deal around for the desire right now?

I own a iPhone 3G jailbroken and a rooted HTC Hero with Modaco 3.2. I agree that the iPhone may be old technology and all the rest of it but for everyday use and amusement I believe the iPhone wins hands down. I like my HTC because it feels solid and well built compared to the plasticy feel of the iPhone but it's always the iPhone I pick up and just have a quick game of something or browse the net. My experience of Android software are games that are usually rip offs of some old arcade game or apps that look like they were coded by some geek in his bedroom.

At least the iphone does not crash!...less features but 100% user friendly and feels solid compared to others. u wont know until u've tried it out. btw there's no confirmation that the nx gen iphone will be out. when it does i'll be upgrading 100% :) the current iphone is selling like hot cakes around the globe! price is high but u get what u pay!
(btw go for the 3gs its much better than the earlier gens)

Looks like a stunning deal, I have contacted via twitter.

With regards to the Iphone, my daughter as an ipod touch which is basically the same without the phone, and as an entertainment device I think it is superb, whiclst on holiday in France recently I was using it to connect to WIFI hotspots to pick up my business emails and again it was superb, but realistically to get an iphone you are probabaly looking at double the monthly cost + an upfront cost of about £150, so to be honest, I don't think the comparison is relevant.
#31
I can't get on twitter at work can anyone pm me the details of the email address?
#32
If this is true this is scorching, have the same package with o2 (also a high-end phone like this) and its just over £40/month. Waiting on a call back from them, but they acknowledged me on Twitter. Heat added!
#33
why expired?

My Desire hasn't crashed once. Not sure how you can claim you get what you pay for when you look at the spec of the current iphone, but there you go. You're just paying for the Apple brand and the idiot-proof user interface.

It's out of stock, but they are still taking orders as they'll send out the phone when more stock arrives
