The Desire is the best phone around at the moment (imho) but you need data on your plan to fully enjoy the benefits of any smartphone. Voting hot anyway.

They will hope to make some cash from you going over your mins or using data.

Depends how you look at the deal. If you look at it as a PAYG deal with the bonus of the sim and spreading the cost over 2 years. On that basis it's a hot deal from me.
#5
Would love this with the Galaxy S. Shame its not online :(
#6
Hopefully all their tariffs are reduced by a tenner and not just the 100 min n unltd text one, then just get the bolt on for data. You'll still save especially on the handset. But this is 02 we're talking about so just gonna have to wait on more information to come our way i suppose
#7
how long is the contract? 18/24/36??
suspended#8
works out at:

£195 for 12 months
£270 for 18 months
£345 for 24 months

wonder how long the contract is. Samsung Galaxy S go for £255-290 2nd hand on ebay so if its an 18 month contract you'd basically get the free minutes and texts.
#9
I would imagine its 24 months

Hi guys, its a 24 Months contract.

Sorry I forgot to mention that.
#11
by looking at the tariff it looks like a dreaded 24 month contract.
#12
Looking at this deal online its £150 for the Galaxy S plus £25 a month for 24 months the op must be mistaken. I would imagine its some other Samsung phone.

When I went to school 15x24=360! :)

It your not using the sim you can downgrade it after 12 months to the £10 tarrif which will make the phone cost £300 which is cheaper than you can get it sim free/PAYG.
#17
what point of having a 2 year contract when this doesnt include data? pretty pointless having an android phone with no data bundle included
#18
It might include data as the same tarrif online does, if not does anybody know how much the 500mb bolt on is on contracts the o2 website does not offer much help. I know it was £5 for me on Vodafone

Yes, because they are poor and verging on the misleading - astonishing to punt such a thing without a data contract. Still, it proves that there's one born every minute...

Still a good price compared to what is out there for the Galaxy S bolt on 500 mb for £5 (if thats what it costs) that is still only £20 a month and its a free phone
#21
There's no data included in the package? That's ridiculous.
#22
The Data can be easily added on for about £5 a month and as mentioned above, still pretty cheap.

Normally they are £40pm inc Data.

Bolt-ons for o2 are £7.50.
#24
Similar offer posted a couple of months back...

18 month @ £20.00 - 100mins - unlimited Texts - NO DATA

nothing special imo
#25
it says on the o2 website, you need to pay for the phones still on selected contracts. galaxy S, pay £149, 18 month contract for £30 a month, how is this a good deal?

Are these phones locked to O2 - or unlocked (want to use with T-mobile sim)

You're talking about the older data bolt-ons that were only available to the older tariffs.

If you want to pay for £5.00 p/mth 500MB Limited Data/Umlimited WiFi bolt on [on tariffs above 300 mins only as anything below will cost you £10.00 p/mth instead] then you will have to move off your older tariff to benefit this.

O2UK changes their tariffs every quarter [4x times a year] to meet market demand/supply so by the time you decide to change something on your plan. There would be newer tariffs that might have better bolt-ons with better flexibility.

End of the day it depends what you really need when your usage changes.

OK - for the HTC Desire it doesn't look quite as good though as it seems to have been undermined completely by the Orange San Francisco which only seems to differ significantly in missing the optical track ball.

There would have been no hard feelings if they had been honest enough to include a data tariff - this deal is clearly designed to ensnare the gullible, as this phone without data isn't much more useful than a car without an engine. Might as well save your money and buy a bicycle instead. But then if it had been £20 a month, would it have reached hot on here?

Yes they are locked to O2. Also if you ask O2 to unlock they won't do it.

I work at o2. Yes these offers are nationwide and extends until 24th December.

If you want data add £5 p/m data bolt-on (not £7.50).

There's also an offer for the Blackberry Torch.....forgot what it was >_>

Unlocking the SGS is so easy. The code is on the phone, just download an app from the market and run it to get the code....

If you go for the 100 mins & Unl Text deal - Data bolt unfortunately will cost you £10 p/m for 500MB.

Just to let people know with the 50 mins & Unl Text you can't add data bolt on.

Noticed a mistake with the HTC HD7, it should be:

£25 Per Month (24 months) or £30 Per Month (18 moths)
FREE Phone
300 Mins & Unlimited Text

Nokia N8 can be also taken out as the same deal as the HTC HD 7
