Manufacturer's Description
The best of both worlds

HTC Desire Z with a 3.7” touch screen and Qwerty keyboardTouch screens are brilliant for surfing the web and watching videos. Keyboards are brilliant for typing. Now, you get the best of both wrapped up in one phone - the HTC Desire Z with a 3.7” touch screen and Qwerty keyboard.

HTC Desire Z makes sure nothing slips through the net by prioritising your emails for youYour emails, prioritised
Busy people have busy inboxes. But HTC Desire Z makes sure nothing slips through the net by prioritising your emails for you. Like your personal PA, it puts all the important emails at the top of your inbox – keeping you on top of business.

HTC Desire Z grabs emails from each of your different accounts and puts them all into one inboxAll your email accounts in one inbox
We all have different email accounts – work, home, social – but now you don’t have to keep jumping between them. HTC Desire Z grabs emails from each of your different accounts and puts them all into one inbox. So you can sit back and let HTC Desire Z do all the running around.

A phone you can’t lose (well not easily anyways)

If your phone is on silent and you can't find it just pop online and make it ring from HTCSense.comIf your phone is on silent and you don’t know where it is, we’ll help you find it. Just pop online and make it ring from HTCSense.com. If your phone goes missing, hop online and you can lock it, back up all your contacts and texts and even place a message on the home screen asking for its return.

HTC Desire Z features downloadable maps that are stored on your phoneNever get lost again
Ever get frustrated when maps take too long to download and you miss that vital turn, or when your phone rings and you lose your place? Well here's an idea, downloadable maps that are stored on your phone and load up as soon as you need them. And as you may get a phone call when you're looking at your map, when someone calls you the map screen never goes away.

Make the web work around you
HTC Desire Z has a clever zoom that automatically resizes text to fit your screen perfectly. So, now you can read websites without having to scrolling sideways all the time.

More windows, more browsing
You don’t browse one page at a time on your computer so why do it on your phone? Open more websites in more windows and browse more freely.

The full web with Flash Player® 10.1
Some phones can’t play all the video content that's on the web. Well, the HTC Desire Z can. With Adobe® Flash® Player 10.1 it plays videos and animations so you can see the web as it was meant to be.

News from your favourite sites, all in one place
The HTC Desire Z syncs with Google Reader, so you can keep up with news from all of your favourite sites and blogs in one place. So whether you're in the office, at home, or away from both, keeping up with what's happening is easy. When you're browsing on your phone, the HTC Desire Z shows you an RSS icon on sites you can add to your reader. All you need to do is tap it to add.

I wouldnt say this is a good deal, probably the price you would expect to pay for a phone that has been out a while
#8

Still think it's worth waiting till the new HTC range actually get released before buying one of these...

Come on, guys. Britain is a rip-off when comes to anything. I can get exactly the same one for less than 300 quid.

There isnt a new HTC phone with a slide-out keyboard.

I really wish they'd have put the 1GHZ snapdragon in this... I think it'd be underpowered for my uses with the current spec, I'll stick to my original desire.

the desire Z is more powerful then the original desire, even though it's running at 800Mhz its still using a second generation snapdragon CPU which is faster and more powerful then the original desire

I can't stand by a price like this. Maybe it is reasonable from what is out there, but I'll stick with my old, rusty and yet trusty G1 for the time being.

Seriously guys, if you have to get this please source it from HK or China, same model and same spec you are only looking for 300 quid (that's inc shipping)

For anyone after a cheaper alternative Android smartphone with a nice quality slide out qwerty, the original Motorola Milestone is still worth considering at £250 http://www.expansys.com/motorola-milestone-android-smartphone-190234/

I've had mine a couple of years now and still think it's a great device, runs everything I've thrown at it with ease, and unusually for me a couple years down the line feel no need to upgrade. Only bad point is it's Motorola so support is very slow, still waiting for Froyo, although 2.1 is very stable and has pretty much everything I need.

Oh, and for those that can't see the point of slide out qwerty's, personally I hate onscreen keyboards with a passion, and yes I've owned an iphone(3G) didn't get on any better with that. Some people simply prefer to have a physical keypad.

I've been after a Z for a while. Have the original G1 which I still love to bits, but would like to get android 2.2 and the ability to install more than about 30 apps at once. Looked into cyanogen with ram hack, not good enough for me.

How much of an improvement is the Z over the G1, and why the theories it will drop to £200 soon? I've waited a few years for a decent sequel to the G1 I can wait a few more months. Just worried the price will go up.

i doubt it will drop to £200 anytime soon, the original desire is still above that, even with dual cores coming very soon i dont see the desire or the desire z dropping to 200 anytime soon, they are still highend phones

The HTC Merge is around the corner

Its being released in the US, so it may not even be GSM. Also who knows when we'd get it here, could be weeks could be months.

Thats a good price for a pretty good phone. I'd still prefer build quality/support/software of HTC though. Sense IS amazing and IMO really 'makes' android.

I get better quadrant scores, though a custom ROM on the Z may help that.
