      Nice little smartphone. Hence hot.

You dont need a massive screen, dual core cpu or lots of ram to check gmail, basic browsing etc.

Cold, better phones can be had for the money such as San Fran 2, £10 more and Huawei Ascend g300 .

Specs don't seem a patch on the Huawei Ascend g300, which is only available on Vodaphone at the moment but all other networks in about 8 weeks.

Nice phone for the price actually. Got this for my missus the unlocked one on the PLAY £99 deal a while ago. Its actually really quick, with fast boot up, rugged design (that's why I got it for her), does everything she needs and a bit more. Obviously not a top end smartphone, but not top dollar either. Nice find OP. Hot from me.

Huawei ascend g300 all the way! It's only 95 quid delivered after quidco and is well made

The Explorer may not be the best phone from a purely technical perspective but I had a quick play with one recently and it was surprisingly decent to use with a relatively lag-free interface and decent quality display. Worth a look especially if you don't want a big phone. (By contrast the Orange Monte Carlo's interface seemed less responsive for some reason.)

However also take a look at the Sony Ericsson Xperia mini which is available for £109.95 including £10 top-up and is also likely to be unlocked as well from the Carphone Warehouse.

That "Huawei Ascend g300" sounds like my upgrade from the Orange San Francisco will finally happen. Thanks Mad and Beloved for bringing it to my attention.

Isnt the Samsung Galaxy Y a better phone? It is £69.99 (including top up)

I have this phone, after having a HD2. Havent found anything I could do on the HD2 and not on this.

I upgraded from the San Fran to the G300 and the difference is immense for the price. Certainly recommended if (like me) you can't afford a £150+ phone.
