Prefer the V-Mob deal, but good if you need the extra minutes. =]
#2
T-mobile is a massive 24 months
#3
Oddly enough, I found this deal this morning myself and was about to sign up as it is a cracking deal but I'm giving it a swerve because there are a stack of dial-a-phone horror stories around and very little in the way of positive reviews of their service.
#4
Great device let down by horrible windows mobile, much better off with Android or Apple.
#5
Can you take this as an upgrade? I'm at the end of my Orange contract.

Orange themselves don't actually stock this handset apparently

I was about to ask are dialaphone any good, they look like the try to sting you with hidden costs.

I just googled for reviews of them and to be honest it didn't make for good reading which is a shame as I'm now back to the drawing board
#9
It's tempting but what are Virgin like? What's their coverage like? Also, I was hoping to avoid paying for the phone.
#10

25 X 18 + 95 = 545 as compared to this at 630 in which you get tonnes more minutes

You dont even have to pay up front

I know but dialaphone has an upgrade service with O2, Voda and Orange so I wonder if that would work.

I have been using dialaphone for years and never had an ounce or trouble with them, your bill will be from orange the handset is free so how can you go wrong, stop messing about and order If this deals suits great screen but win mo is shocking wait for the htc supersonic to arrive In march

Cheers, your experience is encouraging. I had heard that the Windows 6.5 on this phone was actually quite good but I have to admit I'm a bit of a luddite when it comes to this sort of thing.
#13
Oh I only see now the "PS: also in Phones 4u stores", I'll have a look there instead.
#14
I'm currently with Orange, but ready to leave them. I got my PAC code a couple of weeks ago and have been looking for a good deal. It's unfortunate that this deal is with Orange again. However, since they don't stock this phone, I'm going to have to sign up to a new contract. Can I use the PAC number they gave me so I can keep my number? I'd be essentially moving from Orange to Orange. Is that permissible?

Thanks

Can't see any problem with that, as it's a new contract.

No chance I'm afraid, a PAC code can only be used to move to another network, otherwise you need to do an upgrade. Your only other option is to pac to a free PAYG sim (virgin,o2 etc) and then start a new orange contract with a pac code from the PAYG network.

I have this phone on an o2 contract. o2's unlimited Internet is unlimited not like the others that have a limit on their unlimited. o2 told me that as long as I don't leave the phone connected all the time they don't mind how long I spend online or how much I download on it. The phone itself, I don't like it. I should have taken my son's advice and got an iPhone. The HD2 is better now that I have an unofficial rom on it but still not impressed with it. The iPhone does most things better by what I have seen so far.

Windows mobile 6.5 = Absolute *****

What a waste of what could have been an outstanding phone
#23
Much better than an Iphone - it's not really comparable. I bought the original HD and an iphone 3G to see which I preferred, wasn't much between them, eventually sold the iphone (nice thing about these type of smartphones is they really keep their value 2nd hand).

The HD2 is quite a bit superior to both though - makes the internet much more usable when you've got so much more resolution, the iphone you have far too much zoom in/out needed, and of course there's no choice of browsers either. The iphone really looks like a bit of a toy once you're used to 2.5x as many pixels in there.

As to the price, it's OK. 18*35 is £630 though, I got it 2 months back for £100ish on 12*34 (£408) with internet. Also, I tend to think it's best to sell after a year, they still go for nice prices on ebay then, so you can move on to a new model for a minimal cost.

I have this phone and funny enough today the 2nd one I have had was picked up by DHL for repair, the first one simply froze and took forever to do any simple task (like make a call or text !) this was replaced within the 7 day deadline but this second one has similar freezing and go slow problems but also looks like it works well then refuses to dial even though you try multiple times. The only solution was to turn off / on.
The other problem is that the rocker switch on the side only went one way (turn down)
When it works its a lovely phone but I have had two now and both very dodgy, had to buy another cheap phone to use while they are 'repairing it'
Fingers crossed it comes back perfect (but somehow doubt it with my luck recently)

Bought the same deal from dial a phone 5 days ago 35/18month/1200minutes + unlimited internet but was on orange. Since then everyday they email me saying tomorrow they'll deliver, plus I couldn't find a way to unselect the stupid insurance and gadget helpline or whatever, so have the hassle of calling later to cancel two things. THEREFORE this is so cold based on my experience with dial a phone as they obviously don't have any in stock and it could even be a bait and switch.

Yawn. Predictable comment. Have you used it? When the iPhone supports multitasking I'll be impressed. Android is getting there, but nowhere near as customisable as Windows Mobile.

Yes, brilliantly. You can even watch Flash football games with Skyfire. The YouTube app automatically switches quality depending on the connection.

How in the world can someone call it
Unlimited internet ( 500mb )

Unlimited internet???

they have been warned

I've used Windows Mobile for over five years since the 2003 edition and I find it pretty good, wouldn't buy a phone without it, especially not an Iphone with having no choice but to download Itunes. I'll give buying an Iphone a second's thought when you can use it propely without Itunes.

absolutely shockingly bad... Really? Used it then have you? Cos win 6.5 (in fact 6.1 to a fair extent) was only THAT bad in the minds of people that hadn't really used it, or were already determined to hate it.
It wasn't brilliant, and certainly the iphone os or android was better, but 6.5 is catching up ( and in some areas better) and the ahrdware is better than what is availablefor either of the other OS's...

To that that want to know... try it.. make yer own mind up, and ignore those that just hate MS regardless. If the OS was as bad as some made out, it would be unuseable. And it certainly isn't.

And yes, streaming works fine.

WinMo on this device is far far FAR better than people who've never owned the device give it credit for. It's sleek, intuitive, has tons of apps and games and not a single issue or crash... and I've been using it extensively for hours every day for the past month...

Virgin's network is great (T-mobile anyway), 3G coverage is flawless in my area, no issues at all. Device comes UNLOCKED from them and doesn't suffer from the pink camera issue nor sms bug (even though not updated).

TomTom is highly recommended if you drive, brilliant large clear screen does it justice and watching videos using Coreplayer and Youtube is a right pleasure. I love this phone thus far, would defo recommend it. If it interests you, don't be put it off by fanboy idiots who've never tried it and feel the need to bash anything they don't like..

Any particular questions, feel free to ask, will help out happily.
#37
Did you just say windows mobile is sleek and intuitive?

LOL

Its the complete opposite, and nearly every reviewer agrees. Its ****.
Compared the the iphones interface, WM is an absolute joke, which is the only reason iphone are still flying off the shelves are full RRP.

Android is getting there, and worth buying, but WM needs to step up to the competition.

What a douchebag comment. HTC's WinMo Sense UI is absolutely sleek and intuitive as has been covered in many reviews. Of course, to each his own. I upgraded to a HD2 from an iPhone 3G and I haven't looked back. Try it for yourself on a HD2 before commenting like an idiot due to blind fanboyism.

Yes I have used it and yes it is terrible. I have it as my company mobile. SHOCKING. The only thing that i prefer over my iphone is the battery life on the HD2 is much better, although that may be because I avoid using it like the raging clap.

Also IDGAF about multitasking and nor do alot of people. My jailbroken fully customiseable 3GS is the ultimate phone for me at the moment.

Strange company phone. Never come across a company who is willing to splash out on a handset of this nature. I carn't understand how you can class the software as shocking, can you actually provide any tangables? Or is it just the usual I'm guessing brigade lying again. I prefer the iphone too (mainly due to the apps) however the device software is very good and far superior to just about every other phone on the market although not the iphone.
