You admit to buying the N97, one of the very worst smartphones one could buy, yet consider yourself a great judge in these matters?! :whistling:

Personally I am more inclined to believe the numerous reviews from professionals which generally agree the HD2 is a fantastic phone. As for the deal itself, it is pretty good if you are after a phone like this and need this much inclusive allowance but do beware about the limitation of 'unlimited' with regards to the internet.
#6
I think it's a good deal myself.

As talksalot81 said, you can't possibly judge when you own an n97 which are absolutely terrible and a joke of a phone.
#7
I Got one of these on contract and only sold it because i have a iphone .. And the value of the HD2 at release was a lot :D

But ! i wish i had kept it , compared to the iphone this is a LOT better in every way

I have the HD2 (had an iPhone previously) and in terms of customisation & functionality the HD2 wins hands down - a view backed up by numerous independant reviews.

Anyway are we not meant to vote on the deal rather than misplaced personal views of the product??

HD2 is the best multimedia/multitasking phone around....

I did **** my pants at the bell end who admitted to buying and owning a N97.. lol
#10
It's an utterly amazing phone that really takes advantage of Snapdragon.

The xda-developers community constantly updates custom ROMS and tweaks which shine the phone off even more. It's one of the most customiseable (software wise) and accessible phones ever. The gorgeous screen sweetens the deal.

Personally i'd go for the 500 Mins/Unltd texts and Internet on Virgin for £80 @£25pm if you don't need all those minutes, and the phone is unlocked so you can still use orange wednesdays and such
#11
great deal --that comment about the n 97 please ... lets just forget it

Let us also not forget that this is Dial-a-phone we're talking about here. The company that ran credit-checks on a non-existent deal, lied for a week to hundreds of people and then used their personal information to try to sell to them.

I'd rather use two tin cans and a length of string than buy a phone from these cowboys.
#13
Truly awesome phone. The iphone's good, but Imuch prefer this and the Desire. Can't wait for my contract to run its course so I can grab one of these bad boys!
#14
Great multimedia phone, love the Sense UI interface. Great deal as well, gives you loads more than Virgin offer at 25/month and it's free!

I cant belive orange can get away with saying 500MB is unlimited mobile broadband - its a pathetic allowance!

I must admit, the only thing stopping me from voting hot is the 500mb 'unlimited' allowance. I've got the Desire on order via Tmobile. Their coverage is the same as Orange but their allowance is 3gb for Android phones.
#18
Fantastic phone. Only seen it this price from other places on 24 month deal so voted hot.
#19
Keep in mind, April is the release date for many of the new phones from a lot of phone makers, so if you're into the latest/best phones might be worth it to wait a few weeks. Plus, these older phones will probably go down in price.
#20
Personally I wouldn't touch it because it's windows 6.5 but it does appear to be a good deal if you're after this phone.

If anyone was wondering if can be upgraded to Windows phone 7 then apparently not....

I'm hanging out for a WinMo 7 phone. I have been tempted by the HD2 as it is a great product. Thanks for this info.
#22
Got a chuckle out of the n97 comment, there's always one, haha. I've had the hd2 for about a month, love it. I knew all about the latest htc phones coming out when i bought this, still don't regret it. Had android, loved it, can't knock it. Just fancied giving windows mobile another shot. Hasn't let me down. Wouldn't be as good if it didn't have the sense UI, but it does.

As for all the people saying hang on for this phone, hang on for that phone. That is ALWAYS going to be the case no matter what phone you get. There is always a better one just around the corner. This deal is hot. I got mine on a 12 month deal though, so only another 10 months to go til another new phone, happy days!
#23
Voted down because it's Orange and because "Unlimited" means 500 megs.
#24
You will be able to update this to WM7 when it comes out, I have this phone and it always impresses my clients that normally have iphones, I love this phone

Pre ordered direct with T mobile? or through a third party?

I have the Desire on order but with a 1 gig limit.

Possibly not officially though, unless the geeks at XDA Developers can get a build out for it. Agreed, great hardware and HTC have worked wonders hiding most of the bad bits of the current WinMo.

you can **** them a bit more cos I have a N97 and I am happy with it, definitely not as smooth to use as an iphone but it does everything I need ! :)

£35 PER MONTH is a good deal ?
#31
Hot deal.

This phone is excellent as far as customisation, playing around changing ROMS, etc. I tried upgrading to this from an iPhone, it was painful and the HD2 is on eBay and the iPhone is back in my pocket.

Main reason: HD2 touch screen capabilities just don't cut it. Texting takes an age and the gorgeous screen drains the battery at an alarming rate.

If you've never had an iPhone you will love it though.

Windows Mobile 7. The hardware in the HD2 is good enough to support it easily, it just depends if HTC would be willing to make a new ROM for it so everyone can upgrade. Even if it's not officially supported by HTC the guys over at XDA developers will work around it eventually.

I find texting really easy and I've only had it a couple of days - just use landscape and your two thumbs, the X9 auto correct thing is extremely effective.

The N97 is one of THE worst phones ever made, I know, I had one for all of 4 months until I got rid of it. It's the most terrible, awful, rubbish piece of tat Nokia ever made!!

Tmobile will start taking preorders on Monday 22nd apparently. Mine's on order at the moment with mobilephonesdirect. I'll see what Tmobile are offering as you can cancel the MPD order right up to 1st April.

Too bad the HD2's WM6.5 is terrible.. absolutely appalling, no wonder MS had to shelve the whole platform and start anew with WM7 (which itself is just a giant animated poster being viewed through a 4 inch screen)..

When you actually get to use the phone (ie. by using anything other than the really nice HTC interface), compared to the Nexus One, the HD2 is a joke.

Ignore that, the XDA chaps will get round it.

I have to admit that I know these things are possible but the truth is that I dont want to be having to fiddle with the code on my phone to make it work. I just need it to work here and now. I guess the vast majority of people are the same.

As for all these negative comments... well lets just say I find them hard to swallow considering the almost universal praise given to the phone in the press and by professional reviewers. When people are really down on something that most others agree to be of good quality, I wonder what the person is doing wrong and not what is wrong with the something!
