Best deal I've found yet for this phone (also known as the T-Mobile G2 Touch). This is for the black phone on T-Mobile. It's just come back into stock on this website today.

FREE T-Mobile G2 Touch Black Mobile Phone
11 Months Half Price Line Rental (Usually £34.25)
Redeemable Cash Back of £188.37
Redeem you cash back in five stages at month 4, 8, 12, 15 and 18
Save £188.37 on this deal
3GB allowance for Web browsing & Emails
Unlimited text messages to use at anytime
Total Contract Cost £428.12 over the 18 Months Contract

Effective monthly price: £23.78

Deal found here (so you can compare with other prices): http://www.rightmobilephone.co.uk/sections/contracts.php?brand=9&phones=921&fee=&provider=&phonecost=&clength=&xnet=&sms=&gifts=&cashback=&email=&submit=Search+Phones&opmins=

Over the contract period, it's works out less than all the other contracts I've seen with less mins/texts and cheaper monthly payments.

My first deal/post, so let me know what you think, but don't be harsh please!

I'm probably gonna get this unless someone finds something better or sees anything wrong with it.

Looks good to me! How easy/reliable are they with the cashback?
#2
No idea I'm afraid, I was hoping someone might be able to enlighten us.
#3
seems a really good price for the hero ...gotta be someone who's used them for cashback ...?

Well I have ordered the same deal with minutes etc but gone for the automatic cashback of £110.
Quidco gives another £20
18mth contract works out at £27.02 per mth - its £3.24 more than this deal above but no messing with redemption

Thanks for the original link and details

ive had ps3 from them and there was no hassle with that.
does any1 know if there is any difference between the g2 and the hero or is it simply a branding thing?
#6
Simply a branding thing, the g2 and hero are one and the same beast :)

I examined both Orange HTC Hero & T Mobile G2 and cosmetically the TMobile version was not as nice, felt a lot cheaper, the phone casing was not as nice and the buttons felt cheap. Thats just my opinion from what I witnessed on the sample phones in store, but it has put me off getting the rebranded Tmobile version.

I'm very tempted with this deal. I have never liked redemption offers and although the automatic cashback option is slightly more expensive is sounds more appealing to me.

Thanks for the link

For anyone who doesn't use many minutes/text (me as I mainly use the web access) you can get the phone on a £20 month contract and £80 for the phone.

It works out at £440 for the phone over the 18 months or £24.44 a month.

It's 100 mins, 100 text and unlimited internet.

This way there is no need to mess about with cashback.
#10
I'm also tempted with the 12 month contract too.

T-Mobile Combi 30 + Web n Walk Plus for G1
300 cross-network mins + 200 texts + 3GB allowance for Web browsing & Emails • 12 months
• Worry-free Surfing
£ 34.25

Handset £9.99
Quidco £20

Total £400.99

When you say 'sample phones' do you mean the dummy phones for display?, as some of them are pretty crap copies of the real thing.
It'd be interesting if the units you were comparing were both actual working phones as re-branding shouldn't mean a change of case or buttons unless the original manufacturer(HTC) has supplied a cheaper phone to T-Mobile!
Surely that can't be the case? (no pun intended)

This only appears to be available with the T1, a different phone to the one in the OP?

Oops, should've looked harder, please ignore this comment.

I've been looking at getting this phone. As my contract is up for renewal.

I'm thinking of getting it here: http://www.mobiles.co.uk/vodafone-htc-hero.html
I would go on T-Mobile as I think they are offering some of the best tariffs for this phone. But unfortunately where I will be moving to in a few weeks does not have T-Mobile 3G service, so that completely rules them out.
The only other company that offers a decent contracts with good 3G coverage and internet use is Vodafone.
If you go to the 18 month month contacts tab. The third option down & you'll see the tariff I am interested in.
It's not got a million minutes or a masive amount of messages, but for me it will be plenty.

This is how I've worked it out;

18 month contact @ £30 a month. But with 6 months half price line rental.
12 x £30 = £360
6 x £15 = £90
£360 + £90 = £450

Quidco of £40

£450 - £40 = £410

£410 divided by 18 = £22.78 a month.

There is also a voucher code on this site, which will entitle you to a free Jabra bluetooth headset.

Seems like a good deal to me.

What does everyone think?

Yes they were dummy phones, but with all the phones I have purchased I have not seen one that did not look and feel identical.

I want this phone but I am having real trouble deciding on how to go. I am currently with Vodafone and amgoing to leave them as I cannot get it with them direct, I could with another retailer but would lose my number. So I would prefer Orange.
I do not like these redemption deals.
I am looking for an 18 month. 600 mins Unlimited Text & web access for £30pm and free handset.
Am I asking too much?

did you see this one? http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/460350/htc-hero-35-a-month-1200-mins-unlim/
was considering it myself.
#19
it's a very very sleek phone - the andriod OS at it's best I think.

It is however a little slow compared to the iPhone 3GS (i have HTC hero and my bro has iphone), BUT this has the 'better' camera (on paper at least) and it has multitasking which really is a deal breaker for me as the iPhone doesn't have it.

Maybe the next HTC hero wiill have a ARM cortex processor - and that really WILL blow the iPhone ouf ot he water as it will be wayyyyyy faster.

Hi, Yes I did see that deal and it is probably the best one I have seen so far but it is very dependant on cashback by redemption. I just do not need another thing to do though to get money back, I would ratherhave a straight forward contract and pay a bit more.
#21
Thanks for your input guys, I'm probably gonna order this afternoon. :)

EDIT: Or maybe not, I've just read about how cashback by redemption works... It looks like a pain in the ass. Thanks to those who pointed out how awkward it is.

Hi guys,

I saw this deal on the site on friday. One quick question for those that deal with them:

Are these guys like the carphone warehouse , where you deal to Tmobile/Orange through them or this just the deal through them and the rest of the contract is through the carrier directly?

I actually tried the actual phone in the tmobile store and its the same as the orange store one. Infact the Black G2 touch feels and looks more superior(much better then the display model) then the graphite one from orange... Well thats my opinion anyway. The only downside is the Orange logo is at the back. This one has a Tmobile logo right at the top front
#24
ordered the deal from bmp but chose the £110 auto cashback rather than the redemption. gets piad into ur account in 3 months. much less hassle than messing about with 5 stages of redemption.
one thing to take into account though is that they dont have stock at the moment........so i dont know how long ill be waiting.

Well I am not too sure it does look superior, I thought the graphite one looked good but the black one just looked like some cheap dull black rubber, even the buttons felt cheap, but maybe thats not the case.

Can someone tell me are all the colours/casing the same?

I am still looking for a decent deal as well.
