Orange has increased it's quidco to £120 for Pay Monthly contract phone connections, new customers only (per transaction, not per phone basis) - this offer does not apply to Orange 5 and Orange 10 PAYM 36 Month tariffs.
So 12 months contract of 200minutes and 300 texts @ £28=£336
Initial price for phone @ £49.99
Quidco -£120
=336+49.99-120
=£265.99 or £22.17
Now I don't know how good is quidco but Hero on a 12months contract at £22.17 with 200mins and 300 texts, isn't hot?

Also for this phone you need internet access, which is an extra £5 per month.

I upgraded to this phone just a few days ago and it is superb. A great alternative to the iPhone if you don't want to follow the masses.

Orange dont seem to understand that you need an internet bundle for this phone, 12 month deals are the way to go but the data deals are terrible with Orange.

i know yours is a 12 month contract but its still double the cost for half the time

I thought so but when you are stuck with the G1 for last 18months and realise that by the end of the 24months it will not be worth it plus the new contracts are cheaper than what available 18months back.

i got the g1 and don't sufr on the 3g cause it is slow compared to the 50mb/s i have back home. Maybe a quick weather check or some thing like that but thats it.

I have an unwanted upgrade Orange hero. If anyone interested let me know. Only month old, excellent condition. Works a treat, I don't need it, It also includes an 8gig class 6 micro sd card. Will accept a reasonable offer, looking around 280 ono.
