I know the contract length and redemption might put people off but this phone is a cracker!!

With the HTC Hero, personalisation lets you create a phone that is just right for you. Sporting a 3.2 inch touchscreen display, the Hero runs on the latest version of the Android operating system (known as Cupcake) which lets you download apps from the Android Market and features full compatibility with Google services such as Google Maps and Gmail. The Hero is the first phone to embody HTC Sense - an intuitive seamless experience that puts multiple channels such as Email and Facebook in your contacts and will also show you the latest photos your friends have uploaded. Also included is a 5.0 Megapixel camera with Autofocus, HSDPA and Wi-Fi connectivity, built in GPS and Bluetooth.

Apps a plenty and most are free. It can turn WIFI on when you enter specific areas, run email like a dream and put the cat out at night. Okay lied about the last bit : )

Any one has anything to say about this mobiles.co.uk? I've found some good deal there but looks the cashback system is dodgy .

I've been looking for a new phone for months, I keep weighting up all the options. I prob need to get a sim only contract as i have no credit rating.

However I've been tempted by the HTC hero £20 a month deal on that site for months, there where two sticking points, 1) No data allowence (which they just seem to have added! and 2) The phone seems really laggy, I saw there was a firmware update coming out, wonder how much better that makes it!

Surely this deal is MUCH better...cheaper, and for less time?!

Had a phone from them last time and I have got this phone from them as my contract was ending - had it for about a month now.

Their cashback worked well - none of the voucher nonsense - just send away the right bill (they'll tell you exactly which one) or a copy of it and they do the rest - had no problems at all

Get this phone - it's great!!

I have this phone and its great. I got the white unbranded model on Tmobile from mobilesdirect.

200 mins 200 texts and 3GB internet for 25 quid a month on an 18month contract. Maybe a better option for those who want less minutes and more internet allowance. BBC iplayer.

I don't find the phone laggy but the battery isn't as good as my old Sony xperia x1 when using the internet. The screen is fantastically clear BBC iplayer widget works great

lol thats the daftest comment I have read today, so you didn't like the phone so you would go fora worse one, careful it might explode!

As for the deal, I am not voting but it is not a great deal and I would not fancy a two year contract.

why is it the daftest comment - i would like to hear peoples comments and I am sure other people do on devices. I am not saying its a crap phone i waited months for it but it wasnt for me. I also hate apple but wont cut off my nose to spite my face. They have sold 21,000,000 iphones do you think all these people are wrong. Dont let your prejudices rule ur decision making ability.

The phone is unbranded and unlocked. The other deal posted was £5 more per month so I still think this is a good deal. As for being laggy I haven't seen this. Apps etc load faster than I-phone and running multiple apps knocks the I-phone away. But the I-phone has other qualities. Down to personal choice really

I do not hate apple but I do feel their products are over priced and inferior to other less known companies, apple have a strong brand from being diverse and having strong marketing as well as strong but not the best products.
Selling 21,000 Iphones does not make me think they are right or wrong, they purchased for a reason, probably based on the phone, or brand/product, or naivity, my comment was more directly in relation to your decision, I just cannot see what an Iphone will give you that the Hero does not?

Have you got a link for that deal?

Got this deal last week. After redemption and Quidco it averages £22.71 per month including 500MB data.

No better deal for this phone, should be voted red hot.

Didn't want an iphone (way too common), so went for the Hero as an equivalent. In all honesty I am totally impressed with the Hero. Feels great to use and looks fantastic.

Assuming I get the redemption ok, I would recommend to anyone.
