Great phone at a great price.
Stuff, T3's gadget of the year and Mobile Choice Consumer awards phone of the year.

There is also £20 quido available.

Specifications here
http://www.htc.com/www/product/hero/specification.html

Works out at £480 with the quidco, but taking into account the texts and internet allowance I think it's a pretty good deal.

Also, I'm pretty sure that the internet is unlimited but the fair use policy of 3GB applies so if you go over regularly you won't be charged more but they may limit your speed in peak hours.

Well I've just ordered this so hope so. It's really required on this phone with the widgets and email updating themselves.

The best deal direct from t-mobile is £25 a month for the same deal but with 100 minutes less and a free phone. But that works out at an extra £120 over the 2 years.
#4
Not a fan of 24 month contracts, but a decent deal if you don't mind being tied in for so long.
#5
Erm isn't this available as a combi15 special offer , 300mins unlimited txts and 1gb internet for 24months at tmobile for 20 a month.

I can't see it on the t-mobile site, plus it's only 1gb.

What you've highlighted is £23 a month with the internet and you only get 200 mins and 200 texts and have to pay £137.01 for the phone. So it would be cheaper to get my deal and cancel after 18 months and you'd get more minutes and texts.

I called up t-mobile and the woman on the phone admitted that the deals on buymobilephones were "pretty amazing" and she couldn't match them. Maybe with more haggling I could have got them to match.

i just checked and both the g1 and g2 have the same processor, but the g2 has no slide out keyboard, so whats the advantage?

It's smaller, the G2 has 288mb RAM as opposed to 192mb in the G1, 5mp vs 3.2mp camera, it has a 3.5mm headphone jack.

It's basically the newer version without a keyboard. It also has multi touch and the HTC sense software that is arguably better than just the stock android OS.

yes i know that is my point to the previous post :whistling:

my point being yours is better that is why i said HOT

Oops, I'm sorry, I thought you were the same poster who stated that it was available on t-mobile. So I was getting confused at the point you were arguing lol. :-D

blimey and i thought my g1 was good !!!

trouble is i really like the keyboard on my g1 and not sure i could lose it even for all those features

Yeah the lack of physical keyboard is the major downside. I was looking at the Palm Pre but I needed unlimited texts and the cost would have been way to high for me with the O2 bolt on.

the touch screen keyboard on this is very good so has no need for a physical one. excellent phone. wouldn't mind a 2 year contract with a phone as good as this.
Hot from me.

My main concern is using the NES emulator without one lol.

Am I right in thinking these have the same bluetooth probs as the iphone. in that they can connect to bluetooth headsets etc but cant send or receive files to/from other mobiles?
#14
This should be hotter!

Deal is great stuff, I was looking to get my hands on a Hero but couldn't find anyplace that did a deal to my liking until this, ordered and heated up!
#16
Has anyone who ordered this had theirs delivered yet?

The website has said in stock since the offer was posted yet they still have not despatched the phone!

I spoke to a customer services rep on Monday morning who implied they were expecting a delivery that day, so something is not right here. Either they have stock or they dont.

Its all well and good advertising Free Next Business Day Delivery if hey get to pick how long they wait before sending it out for next business day delivery!

Grrrrrrrr :x

voted cold,
there are much better deals to be had on this phone with a bit of bartering,

i got 200 mins, unlimited text, unlimited web, free phone and next day delivery for £22 p/m 18 months = £396 for the term. This was direct from t-mobile and took 3 phone calls.
( Ive also done 2x reccomend a friend which drops the overal effective cost to £346/£19.22)

IMHO a 24month contract is not worth the hassle, even if you arent bored of the phone in 2 years is something you use everyday really going to be in a great state after a year, let alone 2 ??
#19
Called and chased these people again, it seems no matter when you call them your automatically put on hold for about 20 minutes. Everytime I call I get put in a queue in 19th place.

I was told the phone is in stock but there is a delay in sending out the phones due to volume of orders. Pretty poor excuse though, if you offer next business day delivery it should be delivered next business day not a week later!

Mine still has not been despatched.

VERY POOR SHOW !! :x
#20
Just ordered mine today Hopefully not delivery problems... Seems to be the cheapest deal about at the minute.

T-mobile = don't bother.

Trust me, I have a hero on T-Mobile, and their 3g coverage is absolutely pathetic in the real world. Infact, their general signal coverage is pathetic.

Looking back, I'd rather pay the extra £5 a month and get a proper network. Believe me, no point it being cheap if you cant actually use the thing.
#22
To add balance to the usual t-mobile nay-sayers....

I have a Hero on T-Mob and very rarely get less than HSDPA signal.... and even then its usually dropping down to 3G so hardly a concern.

You might want to actually try travelling with it then.

I called up to check their signal at my home one day, and was told 'yes, 3g coverage in that area is very good'.

On asking why I was currently calling them from my house phone, because I couldn't even get a signal at all that doesnt break up whenever I move more than 2 feet, the advisor could not answer.

Never had any trouble with any other network, o2 orange or voda, but everytime I go back and try t-mobile for a year, I really wish I hadn't bothered.

Were you already a T-mobile customer and that being an upgrade? I find it hard to believe you just called up and were able to get that deal without it being a retention.

Come on, you've got to see the irony..... "You might want to actually try travelling with it then."...... and then you winge about the coverage "at home"....

Anyway FYI I have travelled a great deal around the UK ("perk" of the job) and that is what my comments were based on....;-)

@ TehSheep...

Yes it is just from calling the sales number as a new customer.... people have had £21.50 a month for 18 months 500 mins, 800 texts, 3GB data and free phone in the past...

There have been loads of threads about it. Its pot luck though and may take 6+ phone calls to get the right person.

I bought this phone off Ebay last week for me sons Xmas box.
Phone looks and feels great, compared to the wifes LG touchscreen its awesome.
Thought i may let you know this info.
The phone is locked on Orange and is a nightmare to get unlocked.
So far 7 shops have turned me down
2 tried and were unsuccessful , apparently Orange have inserted there own software and is hard to remove.
Also some shops want £30 if successful, ive left it on Orange PAYG on Dolfin
Some shops are saying Tmobile is easier to remove, Tmobile in my area useless.
Just a thought.
Merry Christmas everyone.

The first time I called T-mobile they offered £25 (but £20 for first 3 months) 18 months 800 mins, 500 texts, 3GB data and free phone. So I thought that was good compared with what vodafone and orange was offering. But watch out becuase you have to pay for your voicemail 12p p/m unless they offer you this for free and if you dont pay your bill by direct debt card they charge an extra £3 on your bill.

Hey

Have you got your phone yet cos I am thinking of ordering one??

Also found this deal with Orange on the same site, not as good as the T-Mobile contract but still not bad if people don't wanna go with T-Mobile:

T-mobile has some good deals not least the touch HD for £23 but I keep hearing about people having poor signal strength in certain areas. This puts me off, anyone here had poblems?

You can get most of them unlocked by the operator, they just charge you for it. My T-Mobile G1 was similarly difficult to unlock when it came out. Just call IOrange and say you want to unlock it for usage of a foreign SIM whilst on an extended holiday and they should charge you £10-£20 for an unlock code (£15 on T-Mob).

I had a similar experience with them. I would say they are generally pretty good, but they seem to have more strange dead spots than the others (my house in a 3G & 2G fine road was one of them when I moved).

The real question is when their merger with Orange will mean you can use both sets of antennas, it will be the best around then

Was going to go for this or something similar. Just rang o2 to request PAC code and was offered deal on iphone 3GS 16gb for 18 months £31 for 600mins and 500 txts unlimited internet <--- Any thoughts on this? Thanks in advance.
#36
Not particularly hot IMO ...

Only 2 months ago I got the G2 from TMobile on a 24 month contract @ £20.00 per month plus vat.

for that I get

1000 x-net minutes to any mobile in the UK, EU, US or Canada,
Unlimited text messages
Unlimited calls to UK landlines
Unlimited data (well 3gb anyway)
Next day handset replacement
Dedicated account manager

Basically its a business deal - but one that's also available to individuals.

Had a couple of bills so far, and all is well ... no extra charges :)
