If you phone Vodafone sales on 08080 044 423 and ask about the HTC Desire, you should be able to get the HTC Legend on 24 month contract for £16.25 per month, down from the usual £25. This includes 300 minutes, unlimited texts and 500mb internet.

I phoned to haggle for a new contract with either the HTC Legend or Desire. I was told there were no Desires in stock at the moment and they didn't know when new ones were coming in, so they were authorised to offer the Legend at £15 per month for the first 21 months, then it would go back up to the standard £25 per month for the last 3. This averages out at £16.25 per month over the two years. I didn't have to haggle at all - this was offered to me as soon as I mentioned the Desire so I think it's a fairly standard deal at the moment. Also I'm a new customer, so this wasn't leveraged by previous loyalty.

Presumably this will only last while they're out of the Desire, so get in quick and make sure you say you want the Desire!

As a comparison by the way, getting the Legend on vodafone online through quidco averages at £21.25 per month.

Hmm. The woman I spoke to specifically said they were authorised to give the deal she gave me. Perhaps someone didn't get a memo! They wont do anything except the standard contracts in store though, if that was where your colleague tried...

Just phoned about about this and the best they offered me was £20 a month for 24 months for the deal above. That was on an upgrade though, rather than a new deal.

He also said that Vodafone do not do discount deals directly, you can only get these discount offers through a third party so not sure how you managed to get this.

I may have just got really lucky then, although she definitely said they were authorised to offer that deal. Apologies if it doesn't work for you guys!

All those people on the phone just bullsh*t you completely.

If your upgrading on vodafone you need to get through to retentions (or have them ring you which they will if they think your trying to leave or your contracts lapsed) and basically say to them you want to leave, I have to go through this every year and have done for the last 8 years ive been with vodafone.

its just one of those things.

I got rententions to phone me, said I wanted my pac number etc... this was direct with VF not a third party. They didn't want to deal then phoned me back and I got the deal so very happy at 15pm

Thankyou OP, I phoned up and got this offer the other day :)
The trick is to call up and "confirm" this offer (as though you had been offered it a couple days before and are calling to confirm it)

hey, im really interested in this, just wondering. After the 24 months, will it stay at £25pm or what?? Or is it just for the last 3 months. Forgive me if im being an idiot but i havent had a contract before

I've been offered the same package as a new customer, except for £20/month on an 18 month contract.

The first person I spoke to on the 'I want to join vodafone' line wouldn't do any deals arranged to get the 'price match team' to ring me. I missed the price match team call so rang the sales line back and got someone who seemed able to do deals this time.

His best offer on the tariff mentioned by the o/p but for 18 months was £20 for the legend and £15 for the wildfire.

After I'd spoken to him, the price match guys rang back and after I explained, seemed to think they could do a better deal. I was pretty amazed that they were about to outbid each other but actually she couldn't beat his, offering £18/month on a 24 month contract for the legend instead.

So I think the o/p's offer is pretty good, and if you want an 18 month contract you should be able to hit £20/month.

I'm pretty sure the contract rate is £25pm but there's a discount of £10pm for the first 21 months. After the 21st month the rate would revert to £25pm and continue until you cancelled or renegotiated.

After the 24 months you are free to leave with no penalties, but you are tied in for the first 24 months and can't leave without a penalty.

ok guys, i called up and got this exact deal, got the sim and phone the very next day and am impressed by the overall performance of this phone however there could be a better coverage on vodafones part as my signal has very different strengths just randomly
