HTC One M8 Refurb on O2 Refresh £240.00

Per the well docuemnted O2 Refresh method, the HTC One M8 in Amber Gold Refurb is available for £240. As usual, you pick the £38 per month tarrif which is £10 per month for the phone and £28 per month for the airtime. You cancel the airtime and pay the phone off. Don't hang about, they won't last long.

On O2 refresh you only pay for the airtime used, cancellation is penalty free. So, if you take 5 days to cancel, it will cost about £5 on top of the £240 but you can actually cancel on receipt so the airtime cost is minimal.

It says device case to buy out right is 299.99
#4
Not the 240£
#5
not in Stock always disappointed by hotuk deal

It'll just be that ONE came back in stock. No point relisting these every time you see one in stock as the odd one comes in here and there. Friend sent his refurb one back with dust under screen so they've probably just put it back on sale again!

Not in my experience. When they are listed on the web page, they always appear to have a number available.

I chose the 38£/month tariff. 0.00£ upfront and 38£monthly

I sent one back with scratches on the screen and camera lens. Hope no one gets that one.

Makes more sense just to unexpire the previous deal.

You are looking at the representative finance example. the cash price to buy outright is not relevant to the deal.

All gone now. I'll expire.

Would make more sense but people prefer to get excited and post it as a new deal. They don't build up inventory before putting back in stock - friend of mine happened to grab one last week - they immediately went out of stock again. His was the one with dust under the screen though. Beware that with refurbs it's not unlikely you'll get ones that were returned because the customer spotted a fault that O2 subsequently haven't been aware enough to notice. They're evidently not as observant as use customers. Obviously many will have been returned without being used too but there's always a chance of the other.

Refurbs are always going to be hit and miss. At least with O2 they are wiping them and know where they came from. I used to swear by Smartfonestore but in the last year I have been sent 1 phone which switched itself off after 10 minutes use, 1 which had been rooted and a non-standard ROM installed and another with porn and personal photos in the Gallery. All 3 were meant to be Grade B but no effort had been put in to check or wipe them before selling on. The only thing to say in their defence is that they accepted the returns without query. In short, I'd much rather purchase a refurb through O2 than Smartfonestore or other secondhand dealers.

I think they will come in a a non branded box (white based on my last refurbs from O2 18 months ago) and doesn't even come with any cables. They might have changed since so will update when i got my Note 3 ;)

Will come in a flimsy blue O2 box. No headphones and maybe a charger if you're lucky.

You can get a brand new HTC One M8 phone for £23pm from mobiles.co.uk 500mins Unltd Text and 500mb Data on 02.
#25
Got this last time it was on offer. Phone was in perfect condition. Very happy to have grabbed it. It came in a plain box with just the USB cable.
#26
I bought one which i got today. The phone has a big scratch on the screen and many scratches on the body. It's going back today.
#27
Back in stock, as of this morning. Both colours.
#28
I Presume they're locked. Will they unlock for free or do you need someone like htcsimunlock.com?
#29
Mine arrived this morning. Appeared perfect. Canceled airtime agreement no problem.
Hot from me!

Warning! Check your bill online before your 14 day cancelation period is up. I have just found this:

Early Termination (VAT Not Applicable) 18 Dec 14 - 16 Dec 16 £558.53

I shall be phoning them tomorrow to see if this is a mistake. If it isn't then back it will go! oO

What did o2 say?

Update:
O2 said it was a mistake by the CSA who didn't check the "no early termination penalty" box!
The very helpful new CSA said he would get the account credited immediately & that I would only have to pay £1.50 for the pro-rata charge up till I cancelled my airtime agreement.
There is stuff on )2's website about this if you need it.

I cancelled my d/debit immediately, just in case. We shall see what happens. It is best to check your account online in case they forget again! You have 14 days to cancel without penalty.
The phone was unmarked & distinguishable from new so it's a good deal if you don't mind faffing about with O2 on the phone!
Good luck!

Second warning.
After you have paid off the device plan & airtime plan O2 will unlock your phone for free. BUT ONLY IF THEIR SIM HAS APPEARED ON THE SYSTEM. I cancelled everything without using the O2 SIM so now they can't unlock my phone. So put yous SIM in the phone for a couple of hours when you get it & you'll get it unlocked for free!
A GiffGaff SIM works in the phone when you get it, presumably because they piggyback the O2 system.

Hi,
I did the same thing, as inI didn't insert the O2 sim, but they are sending me an unlock code anyway. I just went on the live webchat and they were extremely helpful and efficient. Alternatively a friend of mine had their O2 M8 unlocked from an ebay seller for about £3 pounds.
Great deal. My phone looks new.
Cheers hotukudeals

bump... back in stock!

Hi, just purchased the htc one m8 on O2, it's all new to me, so I have to cancel the contract when the phone comes and pay the amount off in full of £240, then O2 will automatically unlock the phone for me will they. Phone should be here Monday, hoping it's in good condition after reading your comments, noticed it probably won't come with a charger, is that correct?

this happens on a lot of refresh deals. they will tell you it doesn't mean anything
#38
Ok, so as long as I keep an eye out and check they're not charging me a cancellation fee then alls ok, if they do charge me I can call and get the fee cleared. I have to request the unlock don't i, after I've cancelled the contract?
