Haven't sold my old phone yet but it's very annoying having to carry it around just because it is more reliable!
If I browsed the internet, then the phone will be overheat. I saw the led of mobile phone blinking orange, then green. The charger was plug in but the battery is overheat and the phone switch off automatically the charge function and battery level decrease . I know this is an overheat-protection, this need to come into action, if the temperature is higher then approximately 50 Celsius. But, sorry this is a not normal and acceptable operation. When i browse the internet this is not an extreme case. I hope......
User can't change the battery in this phone. They use the phone and it is overheat, then battery level go down and if the temperature is normal, then the charge work again. This mean my phone charge the battery at least 3-4 times a day and this is reduce the battery life-cycle. I didn't see anywhere HTC make a free battery change, because the phone is always overheat and next year i wouldn't like to buy a new phone or pay 50 pounds to change my battery.
Device serial number: HT23VW......
Software number: 1.26.771.2 (was) → 1.28.771.9 (now) I updated my phone and overheat faster then before. Battery great when the phone idle, but web-surfing, game it drop very fast!!!
Anybody has similar problem, observations?
Try using this free phone number- 0800 0829000
(haven't tested so not sure if it works)
@zsolthor- I'd exchange the phone.
Ive got to try and make my micro sim fit a very old samsung u900. LOL!

Got them to confirm a tues pickup.
this phone has been both a disaster and a huge embarrasment for HTC which has probably killed their reputation.
A. case: File details: avi, 720x304, 23 fps
1. Battery 100%, I started the film. Temperature: 38,2 Celsius
2. After 30 minutes the led blinked green and orange. The phone overheated. Temperature: 48 Celsius.
3. After 60 minutes the phone overheated. Temperature: 51 Celsius. Battery 85%.
B. case: File details: mkv, 1280x720, 24 fps
1. Battery 80%, I started the film. Temperature: 43 Celsius.
2. After 2 minutes the phone overheated. Temperature: 48 Celsius.
3. After 20 minutes battery 70%. Temperature: 62,7 Celsius!!! It was very warm!
I tried a TuneIn application too, I listened to the internet radio. The charger was plugged in and the screen was on. The mobile phone overheated... If a switched off the screen, the temperature decrease.
I can't understand, why didn't recall HTC the wrong series mobile phones? I like Htc's phones, but this is not acceptable. I don't guess the software update can help.
Anybody tried watch films?

If you do anything CPU intensive like gaming or watching movies whilst the phone is charging then it is likely to overheat. I know it sounds silly but try doing them without the charger plugged in and see what it is like. It's early days yet and it's the first phone with a Tegra 3 or even quad-core processor in it so they need to iron out the software to get the hardware working at its best.
Glad to hear everyone else is getting their phones replaced and back. Hopefully they are all good. On a side note, the Galaxy SIII, imho does not beat the HTC One X so we haven't made a bad choice being greedy and going for the One X as soon as it came out. Just hope that HTC will update the software to maximise the One X's potential as soon as possible. Alot of people will have problems with any phone when the first few batches have just come out and that's something we just have to face. It happens with most major phones but at least HTC is being good and replacing everything like they should. Next time, we just have to hope that all problems are solved before the phone is released but as they say, time is money.

The hair-cutting machine do not let the battery drain during use.
The notebook do not let the battery drain during use.
Playstation controller do not let the battery drain during use.
Any portable device do not let the battery drain during use.
Portable speakerdo not let the battery drain during use.
I think the HTC One X do not let the battery drain during use.
But I played the second video without charge. It was the case B.
My result:
1. Battery 92%, I started the film. Temperature: 44,5 Celsius.2. After 23 minutes the phone overheated.
2. Temperature: 62,1 Celsius. Very warm! Battery status 71%. The film was less than 23 minutes.
Battery monitor showed: Discharging from 92% since 08:44 pm,
Level 71%
Voltage 3840 mV
Temperature: 62,1 Celsius
Health: Overheat
Technology: Li-Ion
Status: not charging
I expect that: I can't watch a whole movie, because every minute the battery reduce to 1%.
My phone's fault is not exaggeration and I don't think the others are.
The One X doesn't have the best battery life but that is very bad. My battery decreases by about 20% for a 50 minute video and does not overheat. So it seems yours is faulty. The new one should not overheat when watching a video, but tbh the One X drains battery quickly anyway as you can see from my test.

Thank you AhmadCentral! Can you please tell me, where can I see your test? I would like to check it. If you have a little free-time, can you please make a test with the charger. Have your phone ever overheated?
Thought I'd try and stream a hd video while charging and the phone overheated and started warning me. Took around 15minutes for the phone to reach 50 degrees. The charge had stayed on 17/18% for those 10/15 mins
This is terrible. My sensation never overheated streaming videos. This phone takes ages to charge anyway and then if you use the phone it just takes even longer what with all the heat being generated.
Yeah, I agree that the larger and removable battery as well as the microsd are definite advantages over the One X but maybe if the battery life anyway does improve over time then the One X won't suffer too much. Doubling the dropbox storage space that HTC offers seems to be a petty thing to hold over the One X given that with that much external storage space already, I don't think that alot of people will be making full use of 50gb but it's definitely awesome. We just have to wait and see what the price tag is like. The wireless charging is an add-on though, isn't it?

I definitely understand but alot of users have posted the battery overheating when playing games or watching films when on charge... especially if the phone is discharging more voltage than the charger is providing but in this case, the led light should flash between red and green. If it's that high though then you could definitely be looking a faulty phone. I think you should swap it whilst you can and see how the replacement goes.
s3 looks nice but still prefer the one x because I really hate touchwiz and samsungs modifications.
