surely the evo 3d at asda is a better deal at 229
#2
Id rather have the xe I reckon. Dual core, beats, better battery life and more recent so defo on the ics list sooner

he means that the HTC is the better phone but for £70 cheaper the evo 3D is better value. not really hard to understand

Hotty!

I am tempted because I really like the design. But I already have the galaxy nexus....argghh.. must resist !

Little bit cheaper to get it on an o2 £10.50/m deal through TCB. Slight apple to orange comparison but that'd be 30 odd quid cheaper and you can pay it over 2 years or pay off remainder of contract if you prefer.

I think the reason its not getting really hot is there are contract deals out there that offer better value for money.

Take the phones4u offer if you don't fancy redemptions etc.

Its £36/ month over just 12mths, you get the HTC sensation XE (unlocked) plus 300mins / 3000txt and 500mb data a month on vodafone. Total = £432.

So no need to pay out £299 in one lump just spread it over 12mths, if you buy this phone then you will need some kind of tariff that includes data, so your looking at least £10/month for decent minutes text and data in order to get the best out of this phone.

Plus phones4u are offering £55 cashback via quidco bringing the total down to £377, so if it all pays out its £77 extra for a full 12mths worth of minutes txt and data (£6.40 per month).

:D, love how people mention Beats! Beats is merely an equaliser preset, useless and can be easily replicated on 99% of all smartphones! Its essentially the Sensation.

The 3d has the same sized battery, has 256MB more ram (not that it really makes a difference atm). The 3d has a 1.2ghz dualcore however the XE is merely an overclocked sensation, it hasnt changed underneath so simply purchasing a cpu clocking program on market should let you clock the 3d to the same speeds, not that it really needs it and just wastes the battery faster!.

Why pay an extra £70 to not have a 3d camera and 3d display and 256mb ram and an artificially faster cpu? Id save my £70 really! Oh and ICS, yup the 3d is getting that aswell.

Please be more informed next time you try and call something bad!.

As for this deal though, if you really want the sensation XE then yes its a solid deal so voted hot in that respect.

Almost the same specs with the Evo 3d except for the camera and is 70 pounds dearer.

Both dual core, Beats is available for Evo 3d, battery life is the same, only recent by 2 months. ICS is not compatible with all apps in the market yet so not really desperate for that.

Main disadvantages of Evo 3d according to GSM Arena:
* Less than impressive screen performance outdoors (same with XE)
* Speed and productivity not on par with other dual-cores (1.2 vs 1.5 of XE)
* Rather heavy (by 19 grams)
* Low resolution 3D stills (upgradeable via root)
* The two cameras are too far apart for good stereoscopic close-ups

Main disadvantages of XE according to GSM Arena:
* Death grip issues for both GSM and Wi-Fi radios
* Less than impressed with the screen's outdoor performance
* Unimpressive camera results (even if higher resolution than Evo 3d)
* No dedicated camera key (Evo 3d has a very good camera key)
* microSD is under the battery cover (you'll lose all wireless signal when open the cover)

the sensation phones are great! however tbh i would wait for the galaxy s 3 at this moment in time not that far away.
ICS for sensation fully stable is available at xda. senseless (99% AOSP) and sense 3.6 versions available

Android needs a killer phone and this ain't it. SGS3 out soon so save your pennies and invest wisely. Depreciation kills these phones.
#24
I think the best place to go for phone deals is mobiles.co.uk I got my unlocked HTC Desire from them at £5 cheaper than anyone else could offer AND 10 Months half price tarrif, via cash back.
#25
Samsung Galaxy Nexus IS the KILLER phone, but its about £450
#26
The benefit of this over the Evo deal that hasn't been mentioned is that you also get a set of decent (by Apple standards) headphones.

Not a bad deal, however I'd wait until Feb 27th, MWC looks killer this year. I expect price cuts on the SGS2 and a spate of others.
#27
Really hope that Amazon price match this, got some amazon vouchers which I've been itching to spend on a new phone. I've been holding out for the Xperia S, but for £300 this looks a bargain.

edit: Deal ends in 1hr 24mins.... so they probably won't price match now! Oh well.

Galaxy Note is the killer phone. If you're okay with the size that is. Good deal by the way, heat added.
#29
Not really much different for the Evo 3d. With a bit of tinkering you can have your cpu running equal to the xe, and you can have beats, which isnt really great anyway. Though i suppose you do get a decent set of headphones with this.

This is very cheap though so hot from me.

If I ever wanted a phone the size of a house brick I'd be on it - I guess it will be popular with kids who wear their jeans low (it will keep them low!) :)

****! I bought the regular sensation for £310 offline on Sunday just gone!
#32
My XE is costing me £252 in nice and easy monthly installments. Need to get around to putting a custom ROM on it though.

hahaha it is massive, but really after a few days you would not want to go back to a phone with a smaller screen, well that's what happened to me. So now I will never be happy unless I have a 5.3 inch + phone in my hand.

This phone is amazing rooted with Android Revolution HD XE 6.2.1 on it.
#35
Evo 3D plays native .avi and H264, thatl do for me.

Hated having to rely on the apps for it on the old phone.

The rest of it, theres not much in it tbh.

ecosse87 - How can you get this handset on the £10.50/m tariff? The O2 site won't let me select the XE unless I add data, taking it to minimum £13.50/m.

You can remove the data once you receive the phone by calling o2 or via your o2 account online.

Other than the camera on the Evo being inferior
