bought a Touch Pro 2 a few months ago and I hate it. alarm clock doesn't work, keeps saying "your text message cannot be sent" for no reason, and a few other bugs make it really annoying

upgraded the ROM to WM6.5 yesterday and now watching videos or playing music stutters all the time!

i swore loudly at first as i just ordered a hd2, but relised it isnt lol, a smaller version than the hd which i had and thought was a brill phone

It's definitely the worst smartphone OS when you compare it with androids and the iphone, in my opinion.

That it is!

If you are more interested in specs over aesthetics then I'd buy the Toshiba TG01.

Toshba TG01 is definately one of the worst out there. Firstly, it's a rubbish phone because the call quality is absolutely attrocious. Secondly ,it's crippled by the firmware. Don't bother wasting your money or effort :whistling:

But personally I see no point at all in people buying smartphones on PAYG. I've done it and just ended up carrying an expensive brick around, which i only used to phone/text. You may as well save money and get an ipod touch - couple that with a wifi connection and you have a ton of possibilities, including watching live TV (tvcatchup) or accessing your media from a remote location (TVersity/Orb). Plus with The Guardian app, you can download the days news ready to read on your train/bus journey. Spend the saved money on something like the SE T715.
Three is the only way to go for a smartphone on PAYG, in my opinion.

Utter rubbish - i have a HTC Hero which i have on Orange PAYG - For £20 a month i get unlimited internet and unlimited texts AND i dont have a contract im tied into - i can 'opt out' when i like or have a few months of scaled down internet if i need to save cash !!

My bro has a HTC Touch HD 1, which has similar spec's to this phone. He temporarily upgraded to windows 6.5 and found it sluggish although this was using a home-brew Touch HD2 customisation to work on the Touch HD1.
Anyway he acquired loads of apps from MS Office, TomTom, Navi-Go and many more. Just takes some tinkering to get it optimised for the user.
For those not wanting to pay the £700 plus for an iphone contract, just get a sim-only 1-month rolling contract e.g. great offers by O2, 3 or vodafone, after 12-months of use, just buy a new phone.

I've owned lots of smartphones, in the past year alone I've had an Iphone, G1 and HTC HD and whilst I've hung onto the iphone (best for browsing IMO) the best for modifying and tailoring to suit your needs is the WM OS.

Spend a bit of time on http://forum.xda-developers.com/ and you will find out just how customisable the windows operating system is.

If you are into tinkering with the OS, go for WM, Android is a close 2nd but for out the box usability it's the Iphone, just be sure and jailbreak it to get the best out of it.

PS, The camera still suck on it :x

this would be hot only with android

Why people so like Andriod is beyond me. Google are turning into the new Apple with their lock it all down crap.

I've got a HD2 , it's quality, it's got the odd bug, but so what, you can find any app for it (for nothing if you know where to look), I dont have to pay for an app to send 'MMS' etc, I dont need to jail break it , etc./

What it looses with the odd bug is made up by the things it does. Good camera, Flash support (in IE, not in Opera without a hack),, big screen etc.

And the big thing about the HD2 (not this one) is it's fast enough to take winmo 7 later this year. That will set it above the rest in my mind.

Android has flash support as of the Hero and all apps can be installed for a free 24 hour trial. Also most have completely free ad supported versions.

Or you could look at ebay, and see the typical selling price for a locked orange TG01 is £200+......

Wow that sounds really good. A lot better than their contracts where unlimited = 500mb per month.

So this £20 gets you unlimited sms & internet. Does it also credit £20 for making calls or is that separate?

Excuse my ignorance :D
#22
Where do you enter the "HTC30" code.

No such thing as unlimited internet (only O2 iphone has that). You wil find that if you read the small print it will say something like 1gb fair usage policy. Quite how they get away advertising it as unlimited is beyond me.

I'm not saying it makes it a good phone - I'm saying it makes it a good deal if you're that way inclined - note the name of the website is hot-uk-deals, not best-uk-phones, this price is at least 25% cheaper than anywhere I can find it and almost 60% less than the RRP, in that sense it is a hot deal regardless of whether you like the phone, or not.

Yep you got it, the name of this website is also not Ebay, nor is the thread about the TG01

Out of stock at play.com, hence the need to go to SE.
#35
If im not in to sign for Play delivery, will they leave it in my porch, or do I have to go and collect it from somewhere?
#36
Looks like it's back in stock now. Can't decide between this and the tattoo. Not sure it's worth the extra £50 for a better touchscreen, particularly if android is supposed to be so good on the tattoo. Confused :?
#37
I'm opting for the Tattoo personally, problem is I've put the phone in my basket and clicked 'Checkout' but I can't see anywhere on that screen for me to enter the code?

Edit - Found it!
