How is this hot? Seems drastically inferior to an S8 and the same price as Amazon.it deals which pop up every other day?

Drastically inferior you say? Please enlighten me to these drastic margins of inferiority.
This is available with 6gb ram and 128gb storage. I could argue the S8 is drastically inferior to this.

That's presumptious flash judgement to say "better out there" these haven't been properly reviewed yet so time will tell but in terms of specifications on paper it's right up there with the best, ahead if you manage to aquire the 6gb/128gb version.

Top marks for the Camera from DxoMark
best processor out there
"Amazing Audio" - http://www.techradar.com/reviews/htc-u11

Far better out there?

I want one :D

Bluetooth earphones are really cheap now also QC3.0 means it charges faster so plugging in a charger and earphones in at the same time isnt really an issue

Looks decent, no 3.5mm but includes a 3.5mm to USBc adapter. I fancy going back to htc since I had the m7, little much 584 for a phone though for me maybe when it's middle 3's

After I subscribed to HTC Club using the link - http://www.htc.com/uk/newsletter/ I have received an email from HTC asking me to create an account to get the discounted price. And the link in the mail points to https://shop.eu.htc.com/DRHM/store?Action=DisplayPurchasePlanCreateAccountPage&SiteID=htcemea&Locale=en_GB&ThemeID=4783928000&Env=BASE

HTC Sense is a pain. Any time I access anything, Sense wants in on the act, and you can't shut it off, just have to keep saying no. Otherwise, I'm more than happy with my HTC 10, not worth going to this new phone for me.

Get a Samsung? :)

Is anyone buying into this squeezy phone business? Seems like a rubbish gimmick to me.

That's odd.
I got an email to confirm email address etc but doesn't let me log in it says the email address isn't valid. When I click that link it says "stale login request"

I just click Yes or allow and it never asks again. Sense is only asking so it can integrate the feature or app in question into sense itself for widgets etc. Works wonderfully for me.

Galaxy S8 for £520 is a much better deal for a better phone. Haven't been convinced by HTC since the M8. Good find for launch price though. Hot.

I have just given my new S8 to my daughter and retained my HTC 10. As beautiful as the S8 was the fingerprint scanner is in a hopeless position and the retina scanner unreliable, the battery life is poor too (probably why out of the box it's set to low resolution). Plus Samsung have messed around with Android to much.

The squeeze thing likely is a gimmick but at least the fingerprint scanner is in an accessible place and the sound will be class like HTC always are.

I can't say if the U11 is better than an S8 as they haven't been properly reviewed yet, but I can say I only lasted two weeks with my S8 before going back to my HTC 10. That's my first Samsung and it didn't tickle my pickle

Is that Samsung's latest gimmick?
Hug your HTC, Samsung tickles your pickle. What next. Sony sucks your nips.

Gorilla Glass 3 back seems like a strange option to me. Also the phone resembles phones from a few years ago compared to Samsung and LGs offerings.

UK not getting the 6gb 128gb version. I am however going to get this phone. I have s7 edge at ment and s6 before but been waiting for a good HTC and this looks like the one. I had the m7 and m8 and both were great phones.

Cancel it, the U11 is HTC's true flagship for this year.

So it's like a more expensive S8 with bigger bezels and you have to wait until June sometime.
It clearly isn't drastically inferior, but nor is it better, so why pay more?

It isn't more the RRP is less than the S8. If you are referring to the grey imported S8's then that's a different argument as this is direct from manufacturer, try getting an S8 in the same manner for less than this.

I paid £649 for my official UK S8.

didn't get a discount here ...

The £520 is for a genuine official European version from Amazon, it's legit as anything.

Apple did it, that's all there is to it with HTC.

It's a nice looking phone, but it's still a HTC and they haven't made a competitively good phone since the M8 and even that wasn't all it could be.

"shame it's an android phone" what on earth are you talking about? Android is the OS of choice worldwide it's been king for many, many years now. There is currently no decent alternative except windows but it's appstore is dire.

Who cares about warranty and customer service? It will be "honoured" you say, trouble is you would find out the hard way when it was to late. Besides that deal is over.

Excellent for a HTC maybe. Much better phones out at the time though. This U11 looks much the same - excellent phone (for a HTC - probably even their best effort in a long time) but there are much better alternatives out there and more will be on the way soon.

couldn't agree more, I am still using mine and apart from the degraded battery life, the phone is still going strong.
