Desire HD S is just the Desire with an upgraded RAM/CPU, (still not as powerful as the DesireHD) as the Camera/VideoCam/Ram/CPU is much more powerful.

This is a cracking deal for a great mobile. I have
had one for almost a year. I cannot see why you
posted your comments because like most negative
posts you don't say why you dislike it.

check out the ending (wont vote).

The reason i dont like the Wildfire is as follows.

Wildfire
Resolution: 240 x 320 QVGA
CPU 528 MHz
RAM: 384 MB
5 megapixel color camera (0% HD)
Android™ 2.1 (Éclair)

Desire HD
Resolution: 480 x 800 WVGA
CPU 1 GHz
RAM: 768 MB
8 megapixel color camera (720 HD Video)
Android™ 2.2 (Froyo) with HTC Sense™

Simples.

Sounds a good deal to me, not a vast amount of minutes or texts but 12 months free internet and a Wildfire for £144 can't be bad especially as you can get £83 for the phone at Mobile Cash Mate.

That makes the contract £61 for the year - unlimited data and 200min / 200 texts for £5 - very tempted

Keep my San Francisco, flog the phone and sorted!!!

Any more details of the deal?

comparing an entry level smart phone from HTC against one of their higher end smart phones - really?

Thats like comparing a Fiat 500 to a Ferrari California. completely different.

Its a good contract price with the handset, you wouldn't be able to get the Desire HD free on that contract.

I do agree the Desire HD is better...

I've had the wildfire for 4 months now and really like it. It has android 2.2 with HTC sense which is now the standard OS for the phone and does every thing I need it to do. I saw this deal with carphone warehouse as my virgin contract ended so called virgin and they matched it including the free phone.

This deal is hot unless you can find the desire HD on a £12/month contract with free phone? otherwise its like saying you wouldnt by a 1 series BMW as it has less features etc than a 5 series - pointless!
#10
Can you get a Desire HD on a comparable deal? From someone who doesnt get excited over mobile phones even I suspect not.. Reviews say the phone is ok and the contract compares well to sim only options, so at £12 for 12months (big plus being 12month contract imo), seems hot to moi.

its a 24 month contract not 12

Isn't this a 24 month contract @ £12 per month, not a 12 month contract?

In Python5's defense, he didn't vote cold. I think he was merely saying that, in his opinion, the Desire HD is worth the extra £8-£13 per month.

Plus, the Fiat 500 and Ferrari California are both front-engined Italian cars..... not so different ;)

I think we would all prefer a desire but based on those comparisons and the huge difference in price I'd rather have the Wildfire

not worth for 24 months. and you can get sonny ericsson x8 or Samsung Galaxy Mini Black for same thing. But in any way its not that good. And by the way what does unlimited internet mean in this case?

Personally, I'd wait for the Wildfire S to come out. Double the resolution (e.g. supported by more apps and much better browsing) and its faster, lighter and smaller.

I don't know where some you guys got 12 months from? As far as I can see its a 24 months contract... even the op hasn't put 12 months?

So £12*24=£288

£12 a month for wildfire's not that bad actually, but unless you don't mind being stuck with it for 24 months, I'd suggest you steer clear!

£55 cashback at quidco, yes 24 months is a long contract but works out at £233 over 2 years (£9.71) per month if quidco works

Or £55.55 at top cashback

Not hot at all i think. Remember they were selling this at phone4U for £125 and I think you can easily get a Sim only deal better than that ;)

The Wildfire's a great little budget phone - my son has one while I have the Desire - but if I were looking for a budget Android phone now I'd think about the Orange San Francisco, listed here at £79 PAYG just recently. Easily unlocked, easily reflashed, a bigger screen than the Wildfire, and all the bells and whistles of the Desire at a fraction of the price. Not quite as nicely made, but for £200 or so less, it's still a bargain - a better bargain than this, IMHO.
#23
Checked the CPW site and you can get the Samsung Galaxy Mini & Sony Ericsson X8 on the same tariff.

The price difference between the two is alot though

This is ideal for someone who just wants an android phone with unlimted data

The title has "12" and "month" next to each other so it's quite easy to mis-remember that the details said a 12 month contract even though they didn't. Memory works in weird ways, it's amazing how many things people can believe they remember that never actually happened.
#26
Its £15 a month on Tesco Mobile - still 24 month contract (£50 for phone)
But you get 750mins/ 5000texts and 500MB of internet so for big callers tesco is definitley a better deal

Honestly, not a good deal. The Wildfire is a year old, and was underpowered at launch. Most apps released in the coming months and years will not be optimised for this phone, and many won't work at all. The Orange San Francisco, while not being as well built as a HTC, represents much better value for money, couple it with a GiffGaff sim and you aren't tied in either.
#29
op needs to change the title

My husband was going to have this deal from the carphone warehouse as his contract is ending next month, so he rung orange to give 1 month notice, they asked why he was ending the contract and asked if they could give him a better deal, which they did, they offered him the wildfire, 100 mins, unlimited texts and 500 mb data 7.50 a month for 24 months, obviously this is only because his contract was ending though but I would ring you current providers (if you have one) they might offer a better deal.

It had me, was convinced it must have said 12 month contract somewhere earlier :D
#32
It is a 24 month contract; and it is "TRUE" unlimited data. The T&C's do say they reserve the right to "take action" if your use is affecting others.

(I am a CPW employee, but all views are strictly my own etc etc)

DS has thesame CPU/RAM as DHD. The only advantage i can see is better camera an larger screen on DHD. Besides DS runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread And when you think about battery DS has 1450 mAh batt vs 1230mAh on DHD.

If cashback comes through, then it really is a good deal if you want to hang on to this phone for 2 years that is... or I guess you could sell it and add more and buy another?

Aaah! Lol! Yes I had another look it and if you don't read it properly and just glance it does seem like it says 12 month contract. Well done op! Lol!

I have had the Wildfire for 3 months now and it does everything a mobile phone should do. The only reason to have a Desire HD is to play games on and in my opinion that is not what a mobile is for. Why not get a portable games console instead of paying £35 a month for a HD Desire. I am paying £5 a month for 6 months and £10 a month for 18 months for my Wildfire. I got this deal as a retention through T Mobile to stay with them. Guess what - and I can play games on it although on a smaller screen. £12 a month is a good deal.

Some people just want the best of everything to show off when its not really needed.

Good luck with your £35 a month contract.

well you can get the DHD here

http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/htc-desire-hd-100-mins-100-txts-500mb-20-42-per-month-affordable-mobiles/912877

at about £20 a month

100 min 100 text 500 mb internet not for all but a good deal
#38
Can it be used for unlimted tethering?
#39
Cold Talk Mobile is a pretty rubish network, poor customer service and network coverage. Good Phone and deal for your money worth but if you are looking for good coverage id look else where

Screen resolution, 24 month contract, not for me. 361 heat, Wow!
