I reserved one last night. I'm about the same distance from two stores, both of which are expecting stock. One let me reserve but the other went through the process & finished without a reservation number due to "no stock".

I've never seen this ability to reserve in advance of delivery before so maybe it's a new system with inevitable glitches?

On the top-up, I bought one last week & at least the top-up was in the form of a voucher & not credited to the SIM. So it could be (& was) sold on.

is this better thab the Orange San Francisco? and why/not
If you search Wildfire & include expired threads you'll find plenty of discussion. In a nutshell (IMO)

San Francisco
Cheaper to buy
Bigger, better screen
Cheap to unlock

Wildfire
Better camera
Better built
Better battery life

But let's not turn this thread into another debate over which one's best. ;)

ive just bought one of these, paid £25.00 to get it unlocked was on vodaphone .took 10 mins to unlock.
#17
ive been told vodaphone do it free if you call them up??
#18
Voda did mine free but im on sim only with voda not the PAYG sim they supply with the phone.
Think they charge £20 if on PAYG.
#19
vodaphone do it if you have had the phone for more than a year i beleive.
#20
none around stocton on tees area. best idea ring argos customer services ask where stock in your area.
#21
I got a Vodafone Wildfire a while ago, it was unbranded (no ugly logos on the phone itself) and I could pop in any sim and have it work. It'll still have the Vodafone logo if you boot it up, but it might be worth it to try before shelling out to unlock it.

yup mine too :(

cpw orange o2 refurbished brown colour £130 inc £10 topup.
#26
If the phone is locked to vodafone u can have it officially unlocked by them for a charge of £20 if the phone is less then 12 months old. If you have owned the phone for more than 12 months they unlock it for free. To have it unlocked u will need to ring the vodafone customer careline and will also have to have £20 credit on your phone as vodafone will deduct this from your credit to pay for the unlock code.

huhu got my htc from three for 179.99 after waiting for this item to be in stock again.. wish i had waited for a few weeks..
#28
Out of stock in all 10 London stores near me, all 8 stores near St. Albans and all stores near Milton Keynes as far as Bedford/Luton.

Enough to expire it? When was the last time anyone did find stock?
#29
There's a few around now
#30
if i get the £10 airtime and top up another 10, will vodafone take this as 20 quid credit to unlock?
#31
For those wanting to buy now pay later, or even pay it off at extortion rates, it's available at Additions Direct for £129.00 ... add £3.95 to that for delivery. No mention of needing to buy airtime so it may work out a bit cheaper if thats the case. They ran out of stock last night, but seems they're taking orders again for it now.

Edit: I forget, but there is also money off for 1st time customers. Think it might only be £10 ... but I got £30 off when I 1st signed up more than a year ago so it might be worth researching if interested.

Whereabouts are you barulho? They've been solidly out of stock in 10 stores in London, 10 in St Albans/ surrounding Herts. and the 10 near Milton Keynes since I wrote that on the 16th - checked twice/three times a day.

Don't mind travelling a little...Vodafone now have them for £160 with £10 credit, so getting impatient.

Additions are saying delivery in 3 weeks (was 7 days yesterday!) if that helps. Maybe place an order as you can always cancel if one pops up locally.

Odd - tried at about 16.00 and Additions website said 'this item is not in stock, please remove it to continue' when I tried to pay. Even so, 3 weeks? I don't think I'll hang on that long when I can pop down to Vodafone in a couple of days if this argos thing isn't possible - guess it depends where balruho is.
Thanks for the suggestion, though.

Out of interest - When would a post like this get expired then? 30 stores out of stock for 8 days, just been poking around some london postcodes I know, no stock in any....
n16, al1, w1f, mk1...
#37
its out of stock, so you cant even order it
#38
if anyone is having trouble getting hold of this offer from argos you can ring up there helpline and they can tell you when they will be getting another delivery of the phone in stock.
#39
also the wildfire is in there argos christmas book for £129.99 so im guessing this offer will be valid until at least 1st January
#40
Does anyone know if they will get it back in stock?
