Stumbled over this while looking for a sim free phone for that Tesco tariff. I know it won't be unlocked but it seems like a fantastic price for anyone on Vodafone or thinking of going on PAYT I've included the compulsory £10 top up in the deal price. Actual phone price is £129.99.

YEP ! I have the San Francisco. It is way better than this phone.

Yep, SF all the way. Had mine a week and it's awesome. Better than the Wildfire once rooted w/Custom Rom.

The SF is not better than the Wildfire I've got both Phones and the Wildfire is far better to use than the SF.Specs don't mean everything until you've used both phones you soon learn the Wildfire is better to use.

Its the same basic price give or take a penny at play.com and vodaphone. Was looking around last night as i was tempted.

However im still torn between this and the SF. Anyone know how easy it is to unlock the wildfire??

Both are easy to unlock (same procedure) but Wildfire Unlock will cost £17+ and the SF will cost 99p

I've used a Wildfire and wasn't overly impressed (coming from a G1), haven;t used a SF yet but it does look really good from everything I've seen from it.

damn vodafone shop charged me £150 on monday as they said I had to buy top up

Definitely disagree. The screen of wildfire is ****. I cannot figure it out wildfire is better at what point. Just the camera. 5mp camera for me is far away enough if you like taking photos with your phone. There are lots of 12mp camera phone in the market. Otherwise, if you mean you like htc sense UI. Wish you have a look at the Android market. There are loads of applications can simulate the sense UI.

Vote for cold definitely. This phone just worth 80 pounds or less. Higher than that is robbery.

I reserved one last night and just got the confirmation that it is ready for me to collect from my local Argos, but it only says £129.99 in the reservation email, no mention about top up.

The new Windows 7 phones are in a completely different class to this phone so I don't see how it will affect the price of this?

Up on u mate. I will not use this rubbish. If u would like to be fooled, buy this phone though.
#31
Maybe if it comes down to the same price as the SF the Wildfire will be bestest fone ever :p

Fooled into what? I have a Desire and love it. The wildfire will be ideal for my other half who wants the android features but in a smaller handset.

Why compare it to Windows phones? Android is the main selling point of this handset.

He compared it to the Orange San Francisco which is an Android phone,
A quick glance at the Specs
Screen
Wildfire - 3.2" 240 x 320 capacative LCD
SanFran - 480 x 800 pentile capacative AMOLED

Processor
Wildfire - 528mhz (MSM7225 released 2007)
SanFran - 600mhz (MSM7227 released 2009)

RAM
Wildfire - 384MB
SanFran - 512MB

Camera
Wildfire - 5MP Autofocus
SanFran - 3.2MP Autofocus

Price
Wildfire - £140
SanFran - £110

And keeping in mind that the SanFran can be had for £90 (£50 cheaper), it's clear which is the Hotter Deal of the 2.

FWIW - £129.00 at Woolworths. I think there's a £3.95 delivery charge (perhaps some free delivery vouchers around?) BUT there also seems to be 8% Quidco -

So £118.68 (+ delivery).....

I'm very excited by WP7, am tempted by a a HD7 Pro when it eventually comes out but I'm not sure I can abandon Android just yet (I use a lot of Google services),

What I mean with the previous comment is I dont get vigilante;s logic. It's like saying Ford Fiestas will decrease in price because Jaguar are launching a new car.

WP7 has strict Hardware requirements that mean these phones are not going to be on Pay As You Go (unless its £300+)

If someone can port WP7 to the HTC HD2 and the graphics don't let it down then that will be my next phone. WP7 & Android 2.1 Dual Boot.

the unlock charges are putting me off aswell. apparently these new ones need authentication or something like that so they need to get it from he main database which is expensive.

found Unlocking.com - used them for my wifes Hero unlock - reporting £10 to unlock and theres a space for a promo code...might chat to them when they wake up and see whats what.
