  So Vodafone will be sending in unlocked handsets for play to sell ... What do Vodafone get out of this arrangement ... ?? The link clearly states this is a Vodafone pre-pay handset, when Vodafone's exclusivity period expires then you'll see this handset being sold 'sim free' / factory unlocked by the likes of play, with an appropriately titled link.!
  Posts like the above really make me question the powers of comprehension being wielded by some erstwhile posters on hukd.

  Forget powers of comprehension, folk like pink_2012 really lower the quality of offers being posted on hukd. Add some lukewarm nonsense not based on anything to do with fact or reality and pass it off as an offer to gain what ? Scorn from the likes of me ?? Total waste of time. So cold, I've got icicles on my crown jewels.

  The phone was only released on the 13/04/2012 exclusively on the Vodafone network for 3 months. So it will be another 4 weeks before sim free will be available. Vodafone have obviously kept it exclusive to their shops for the first 2 months and are now making it available to other outlets for the remaining month before its exclusivity contract finishes.

  My gf tried this phone out for a while and the features are good but the ringtones even on max volume are pretty quiet. If you're regularly in a noisy environment like the tube and don't carry it in your pocket so you could feel the vibration you might find yourself getting a little annoyed with it.

  The 3 months exclusive means that Vodaphone will be the only company with these handsets for 3 months. Vodafone WILL LOCK the PAYG G300 and these are loaded with Vodafone software. THESE WILL BE LOCKED TO VODAFONE.

  My gf tried this phone out for a while and the features are good but the ringtones even on max volume are pretty quiet. If you're regularly in a noisy environment like the tube and don't carry it in your pocket so you could feel the vibration you might find yourself getting a little annoyed with it.

  
  
  Don't have one but the newest rom (B888) should have fixed the low volume issue.

  The volume issue is a firmware bug install 885 or later and the volume is fine. Also turn off the increasing volume option on the ringtone the default is on so the ring starts very quietly. Disable and it will ring loud from the get go. So to fix 1) Install 885 firmware from Vodafone 2) Disable the increasing ringtone option.
  
  BTW unlock is £5 from cellunlocker pro on ebay.
  Cases £2.99 from China or £6.99 in the UK
  Software and ROMS free from Modaco allow you to debrand and add new features.

  These will not be selling for £100 sim free after the exclusivity period. They'll probably be more like £150/200. Vodafone subsidise the sales in order to tempt you to the network.

  i got my g300 from a Vodafone SHOP a week ago and it did come with Voda's software, but the phone was UNLOCKED!!!

  i have one - good enough phone let down by at times (often enough to be annoying) insensitive screen and also absolutely terrible camera - get a T-Mobile Vivacity or the Xperia Mini instead - will be listing on Ebay as soon as the unlocking exceutable is publicly leaked (I hope)
