Don't have one but the newest rom (B888) should have fixed the low volume issue.
The B888 is NOT an official ROM, and if you install it and have to return it later on for some reason (and because of the build quality chances are it will go wrong) the warranty will be void! So be aware. No, you cannot go back from B888 to earlier official ROM's.

I also don't have one, but I've read that the B886 Rom / over the air fix, is supposed to fix the volume problem - and the OTA fix is a Vodafone approved thing so no warranty problems :-)

However, quite right in that B888 isn't an official rom, and there's no going back to stock.

Maybe an odd question because they are very different phones, but would people go for this or the Sony Xperia U given the choice?
#43
Xperia U has a dual core processor but the screen looks odd, large bezel around the outside.
#44
Has the phone got a vodafone logo anywhere on the casing?

ill be listing on Ebay as soon as the unlocking exceutable is publicly leaked (I hope)
I doubt it will ever be because I think the only way of getting codes is from Huawei's database.

No.
#47
No Vodafone logo on the casing and not a huge amount of branding; there is a removable widget on one of the screens and a load of apps in the app drawer.

For £100 this handset is a total bargain; this should be the next Orange SF in terms of sales. The screen is generally smooth although sometimes there is a split second delay or very occasionally it does not register your finger. Apart from that, I've been downloading a myriad of apps and they all run as well as can be expected.

One issue (maybe it's just me): I recorded a video (decent quality when there in good light) but I can't get it to play back in landscape - any tips?

These will not be selling for £100 sim free after the exclusivity period. They'll probably be more like £150/200. Vodafone subsidise the sales in order to tempt you to the network.

Why bother securing a 3 month exclusive period if you are going to sell the thing for half the price of your rivals as well? That makes no sense.

It ties you to vodafone and they make the money back over the time you use the network. Subsidies is the way nearly all Telcos work.

Think that might be just the pictures which make it look like that, it has the same size screen as an iphone 4s and the iphone is 58.6mm wide and the xperia u is 54mm.

abu77 Forget powers of comprehension, folk like pink_2012 really lower the quality of offers being posted on hukd. Add some lukewarm nonsense not based on anything to do with fact or reality and pass it off as an offer to gain what ? Scorn from the likes of me ?? Total waste of time. So cold, I've got icicles on my crown jewels. How can you comment on the quality of deals when you yourself have..........

Deals posted:0

Right - me posting zero deals has nothing to do with the point I was making. I wasn't commenting on the deal itself, the quality of the phone ( good phone at a good price), the m0ronic info added by the original poster was the subject of my ire. Anyone else want to take me on over this ??

it has absolutely everything to do with it actually. You are moaning about how a deal was posted, yet you have posted no deals.

Please can someone provide the link to the vodafone website where the firmware fix for the volume is - cannot find it. Does it definitley work?

Thanks

I have this phone (6 weeks now)
The firmware upgrade (Vodaphones 885) is automatically deteced by the phone itself. It comes up with a reminder, and prompts you. Say yes and it downloads and installs. No messing with cables or websites.

And yes, it definitley does fix the Volume issue.

Great phone

I am on Virgin too - had to down load Tweakker onto the the phone using wifi and search for APNs - after several frustrating hours trying to sort in other ways this sorted in a matter of seconds.

Ordered a flip case for the Samsung Galaxy S Advance as suggested by cheunw on the previous g300 post, the dimensions are almost identical and for £2.15 delivered from UK on ebay its a winner.
The flash for the camera is covered by the case but apart from that it works really well and is a good fit for that extra bit of protection until a made to measure flip case comes on the market for a reasonable price.
This phone is superb and the speech recognition text and speech recognition search feature are fantastic inbuilt gizmos that really do work as they're supposed to.
Great phone and for £100 its a no brainer. :)

I think the atom based orange phone (Seen as intel is using it as a testbed for its tech) will be a better buy when it is inevitably available as an offer.

(There is this phone listed tons of times at its RRP).
#70
Thanks muckilla & Newbie.

How are peoples battery life? so far i have had to charge mine up once a day from using the wifi about 5hrs during the whole day and sending some txts, surely the battery should be better?
#71
Wi-fi uses lots of power.
#72
anyone know if this will work with a THREE network sim card?
#73
Yes, once you spend ~£5 to unlock it, it will work with any SIM card.
#74
Is this branded with vodaphone logo's?

When does the vodaphone exclusive period run out?
#75
This time I'll let you read the thread or wait for someone else to spoon-feed you the answers to these frequently asked questions...
#76
Well from my scanning of the thread today, and reading it when it was newer poeple where still arguing about the exclusive period and the term "pot luck" seems to apply for vodaphone branding.
Was just hoping something more exclusive had developed.
#77
Sorry - there is now a "most useful postings" thing on here, which is a step forward, but could perhaps be developed into a FAQ.

There is no branding on the phone I bought, and I always understood from the reviews that the exclusivity period was three months.
#78
How do I view or use the most useful postings, tried I quick search but the search only seems to search on deals?

Thanks, tempted by the phone as I do need a new one. Running a Wildfire with CM7 and only ever played angry birds space once due to loading times and crashing.
#79
The most useful postings appear just after the beginning of the thread and seem to be selected by how many people "like" them, so they aren't necessarily the most useful after all!
#80
Thanks, seems a bit off, unless there's soms obvious devide between "most useful" and the start of the actual thread.
