They've been around this price for a while and Argos and their ebay outlet have them at this price, or at least they recently did.

I got a 5332 from a Tesco store for £29.99 (without any data credit) recently, it was a Tmobile locked device and I got a free unlock from the http://huaweicodecalculator.com/new-algo/ - once unlocked it auto configures for other SIMs so no messing around if I use a Three sim for example.

on 3's site it says the e5220 is 3g but it will be upgraded to 4g with software. do you think this will be possible if you are not with or haven't bought from 3 will the mifi upgrade with another provider?

thanks for the reminder of unlock address
mine asda, tmobile in store £25, but their stock levels are questionable so not worth a post, but if you're there.

I had to use the 'new algo' (algorithm) calculator code but it worked first time I entered the code and I 'think' you get 10 goes before you lock the device with incorrect unlock entries.

Do you mean where Three says:

Get ready for 4G at no extra cost.

When we start rolling out 4G, we'll nudge up our customers who have a 4G Ready device at no extra cost. With just a simple software update you'll enjoy trouble free switching.

on the E5220 page? - if so then I think it simply means 4G will roll out to suitable devices and a software update (carrier update?) and I don't believe this device is 4G despite some ebayers selling it as such but reading the specs says max speed of 21mbps and is compatible with EE's 4G network (presumably in 3G mode)

Can anyone recommend a decent mifi device that also supports 4g please?
Also the unlock method/link if available? Thanks in advance.

Thank you. On reading the page again the piece you quote is not actually in the specifications and is on other pages. I think this is misleading, especially if you are not all that savvy about these things. You are probably right about it not being 4g then. I have orderd one anyway as I think it is a good deal and from what I've read if I want a 4g plan it will cost me more than a 3g plan. Thanks, Pat

yeah no extra cost - we'll just reduce your tethering allowance from unlimited to 2gb - so you have to , erm, pay extra (_;)

soon as you put the sim in the mifi the data works i had this mifi from argos the data went quick just surfing the odd bit you tube.

Once unlocked will it setup its apn stuff automatically when you insert a sim from a different provider? Or do you have to connect to it and set it all up manually?
#13
you have to set up manualy to change apn.

I have read that devices not branded by three have more joy, otherwise I would stick to using it on the same operating system phone - as in android tablet to android phone, vice versa with apple, when doing things like windows updates etc they must catch on quick

I've got a Three 3Gb mobile data only sim specifically for mifi devices so its ok. I already have a 3 all you can eat data package on iphone but as you say they wont permit tethering in the US on that hence the need for the mifi and the data only sim.

Three are indeed blocking tethering quite actively.
Get a website saying that I need to return the SIM to a phone. My method of use is not supported.

With Ovivo, and Samba gone, and Three blocking, what can we actually use with these mifis?

Not if it's mobile broadband data 'Feel at home' - That's the point of it

My deal was cheaper ? to use 2gb sim you have to register with vodaphone
#25
Please can somebody tell me how to activate the ee sim I bought, £14.99 (as recommended on here) on my now unlocked Huawei E5220 from Argos (as also recommended on here). The leaflet said a browser window would open the ee registration page but it hasn't. I cannot find out any information. One of the big problems is that all the information is assuming the sim is in a phone and it isn't and wants my phone number and then says it has sent me a text.

Please help. I am beginning to seriously regret buying this mifi it has cost me so much time and it still isn't t working

Hi there, came across this thread as I'm searching for a mifi device.

Tesco now has this vodaphone 2Gb deal with the R206 for £20.

thanks for the lead.

Hi it's a bit late but let me know if you still need help - I've just spent the afternoon sorting it out!

Just picked one of these up from my local Argos but got the RB207 instead, which I believe is the Huawei E5330 so the newer version, same price and still includes 2GB
